joining us now live is democratic congresswoman mikie sherrill of new jersey. congresswoman, thank you so much for making time to be here tonight. >> thanks for having me, rachel. >> i just spoke with your colleague joe lofgren, a member of the january 6th investigation and ask you the same question that i asked her, have i mistated any of this, did i get anything wrong or any big piece that our viewers should understand that i haven't explained. >> no, rachel, this is, as you said, a story you've been following really from the beginning of it and i think you tracked it quite well. >> what is your reaction today to this video being released by the january 6th investigation? when i saw this today, my thought was this is what congresswoman mikie sherrill saw, this is what concerned her, was the video they released today in fact, what you saw and what caused you to set off those red flags? >> well, rachel, i've talked to people about the fact that as a navy helicopter pilot, we've been through training to recognize suspicious things, and as a former federal prosec

for and mikie sherrill 34 members of congress soon wrote to the capitol police and the sergeant at arms, detailing what they were worried about, and asked for an investigation. congresswoman sherrill told us here on the show, january 15th, one week after the attack, that she had seen tours in the house office building specifically, the day before the attack. and that was shocking to her at the time. >> i was really shocked when i got into the house office building and saw these groups inside. and what was so shocking is it actually brought, as you mentioned -- visitors are not allowed in the capitol complex. since march, since the start of covid, that has been shut down. all tours are shut down. that was during the last congress. and what's reiterated on january 3rd, in the new congress, that there would be no tours allowed, even towards given by members. and so, the only reason you would have a visitor is on official business. so, to see these groups around the capitol complex was really striking. and given what we know, the next day, what happened, it's really shocking that those them

loudermilk was confronted with this months ago, weeks ago, he said he didn't lead any tours and that mikie sherrill should be investigated. how significant is all this? >> it just continues to show two things. one is the significant involvement of republican congressman, not only in the effort to overturn the election, but clearly, in the lead up, in some fashion or the other to january 6th. and it begs the question, what did they know is going to happen on january 6th? when you see someone taking those very unusual photos or videos of rain in places that are not tourist attractions in the congress buildings, and then you hear what he says the next day, in chilling and visceral terms about how he is going to go in there, grab pelosi and pull her out by the errors, and i guess a new meaning for coming after someone, like white on rice -- but it's very scary. and it really defies all imagination, that this [inaudible] taking of the photos. and that there would have been no discussion with congressman loudermilk about what was to come, the day after, when clearly this person was planning to not only g
