take a look at milwaukee county, obviously huge democratic area. we have just been told that the city of milwaukee has 45,000 uncounted absentee ballots that will be counted in the next hour. so, that is the biggest, single wild card we were not even aware of until a few minutes ago that has the potential to alter the math. we have some areas of brown county, some other areas in the state where scott walker can pick up a lot of vote. there is one giant one left there for democrats as well. again, with evers clinging to a 6,000-vote lead right now. >> wow. >> steve, in terms of the votes yet to be counted and the timing on those getting counted, what does that mean in terms of how you think this will play out ultimately? >> yeah. this was a complete surprise to me because i was doing the math just a minute ago. we were looking at it. we were saying it was all going to come down to brown county right here. again, you can see the 11,000-vote advantage that scott walker has right there. you would look at this, you'd look at -- this is a two to one marg

mayor lindsay and i also went to milwaukee. i spent the better part of a morning in a black barbershop there in milwaukee talking to young black men as they caved in. most were from the south, having come to milwaukee looking for work just as local jobs were disappearing or being moved away. the first question i asked the early arrivals puzzled them. that question was if they found more or less racial discrimination in milwaukee than there had been in birmingham or wherever was in the south they had come from. they did not know how to answer because, as i soon learned, in milwaukee, they did not see any white people. that's how rigid the local segregation was in that northern city. mayor lindsay and i and the other commission members came back from these site visits sobered and somewhat shaken. in a room which i arranged for on the senate side of the u.s. capitol building, the commission began 44 days of meetings from december 1967 until newly the end of february 1968 to actually write the kerner report, every word of which was

in waukesha, wisconsin, outside milwaukee, how is it looking for from you are. >> reporter: what a tight we are in a purple voting district. they are really concerned about taxes and concerned about health care. there is a big conversation here about how people were going to vote. i was talking to voters off to the sidelines and they were saying they didn't want to vote straight party ticket. one lady said i have eight grandkids. i want to keep scott walker in office, but i want a change at the top, especially in washington. how do we have this conversation? some other people are joining in. that back and forth and open dialogue. one of the things they want the change in is the toxic behavior in washington. one young man who was 19 said earlier it was the parkland shooting that motivated him to come out and vote. already more than 500,000 abs t absentee ballots were turned in. despite the conditions here which is rainy, cold, and wet, people have been coming up every half hour or so to put their vote in. even though scott walker is in that race, they want to make sure that people in thes
