this is foulshaw moss, one of the few places in england and wales where you might catch a glimpse ofin the first set of trees. you can‘t actually see them from here unless you have a telescope. we can show you some webcam footage. this is of the male arriving a couple of days ago, because these birds have spent the winter in west africa. there are just 30 pairs of meeting ospreys in england and wales. six are in cumbria. they mate for life, and this pair have been coming back here for five years and have raised 11 chicks. both birds are in the nest at the moment, the male and the female. the male came in a little while ago, with a fish, and he shares that with the female and he will be feeding her all summer. the female arrived on march 30th. that‘s the same day as last year. and it is hoped that within the next couple of weeks there will be a nest full of chicks. this footage is from two years ago, but this pair of birds are already attracting a lot of attention. people love to follow them. they build on these huge nests right in the top of trees, they are quite bold, if you like. a

like giant moss covered icebe icebergs. westman island out of the atlantic off the southern coast of island. none are inhabited save one. the island of heme, and even it almost wasn't. a volcano erupted back in 1973 forcing the evacuation of everyone here. there are now about 4,500 hardy souls who live in the fishing village. but they weren't who we came to visit. we came to see the residents perched high in those cliffs. the islands' atlantic puffins. they're impossibly cute. even if birding isn't your thing. they're colorful beak inspired their nickname, clowns of the sea. and every spring, they make these islands their big top. they couldn't be more celebrated here. a six-foot puffin statue greets tourists in the harbor. street signs bear their beak and benches. there puffin paraphernalia for purchase. >> they have been a big attaatt for tourism now one of our biggest industries. >> but by ol jithis by ol jils puffins are not as plentiful as they once were. numbers declining. down by a third or more he says. just since 2
