city is different. i could not be more proud of it. i gave a talk in marietta, georgia the other day about how chattanooga became the way it was. i became so emotional about my hometown. chattanooga, one of the things that is unique is our city has been able to keep the civic, business, and cultural center area, which so many cities across our country have not. we obviously have a lot of entrepreneurialism there and some great manufacturing especially recently brought in a great company. upswing.been on the it is filled with people who are so unique. i mean, people who give of themselves to make other people's lives better. it is a very, very unique place in that regard. and then if you look at the outdoor amenities, i just yesterday rode my bike with my wife elizabeth along the riverfront, which again, as a community, we created, it is an outstanding place to live. i do not know of a community that has a better quality of life in america than chattanooga. the interesting thing is, it just keeps getting better. we have been able to build on the successes of people who have come before us and i could not be more proud of the people of my community, and i coul

it is hard to live in this city. mywn children, who were born, raised and went to school here, have college degrees and beyond, and two-family houses -- two-family families, two-income earning families can't afford to live in the city. it's a little sad. not too long ago, we had a billion dollar budget. and since then we have increased our population by 100,000, and our budget by $9 million -- $9 billion. so we do have a little disparity here. what i am commenting about today is the muni forward program; which i believe is a lot of money for things that people really don't want to have. and i think that money could be better spent in other areas. for example, we asked muni not to go forward with their plans and they want to spend $35 million on something that is really going to hurt the small businesses, which is not increasing service for the people. and they say we have a very dangerous corridor. but if we take the number of incidents, 45 incidents over the last five years, with the number of riders, it's a .000002, t
