according to the napa valley register, the owners of napa self storage say it'll cost about $200,000emove what's inside. each tenant is being asked to pay the equivalent of a year's rent, as much as $2,200. and the owners say if not enough tenants decide to contribute, at least 70% of them, then this building here on walnut street will be demolished with all of the contents still inside. as you can imagine, a number of people who rent units here are frustrated and angry over this plan. many call it extortion. one tenant told the napa valley register "it's not our responsibility to make her building safe. we should not have to buy our own things out of there." now, on top of that, there's also no guarantee that people's possessions would even be salvageable once they are pull from the building. city leaders are now stepping in to try and resolve this dispute. they do have the final say on demolition and next week city representatives will sit down with the owners of napa valley storage and also the tenants here, dave, to try and work out a plan that will get people their stuff back. >
