we just saw that 98 on the map for napa from steve today. it's hot but not as hot as we were yesterday. so things have eased just a little bit. we are still, however locked in an excessive heat warning. ktvu amanda quintana has been up in napa all morning, and we'll talk now about how the heat is affecting the grape harvest underway right now. >> yeah, and that's a big question. gasia. you know, we have these days where it's 9100 degrees. so what does that mean for the grapes. so i'm joined now by caleb. so tell me a little bit what does this mean for growers. what kind of decisions do they have to make. >> this this heat wave has certainly accelerated the tail end of harvest to where earlier on we had some cooler temperatures and everything was going kind of slow and controlled in a great pace. it's accelerated a little bit. so we're certainly seeing this is one of the busier weeks of harvest thus far. most operations are really going quickly, getting out into the vineyards, making sure that the sugars aren't racing away and the flavors are

and are we still looking at alameda and napa? well, we are looking at, you know, things picking up as we head through tomorrow. and i think overall the highest risk is going to be in the mountains. so we got a little bit of rainfall today, but that's moving out and pretty quickly with that sunshine building in. so the red flag fire warning right now continues from redding to sacramento. all of the bay area down here towards monterey. so the timing on this has the red flag fire warning starting at 11 p.m. tomorrow night and continuing friday. and saturday on and off. gusts 15 to 45. sustained wind at about 10 to 20, and humidity down to about 10%. now i'm still seeing the very top risk would be in the mountains 500ft and above. now, when it comes to the overall timing of this, we have started to see some of this getting condensed down on some of the worst wind. and i really wanted to make sure you're prepared for that. so what you can see here, strongest wind starts 11 p.m. tomorrow with last through friday morning. then we would

and that number one chill coming in right there throughout marin, napa and sonoma counties. temperatures as we move through tomorrow. don't really budge a whole lot, so we're expecting plenty of seconds to low 80s across the inland valleys. this leaves us with 81 here in morgan hill, 79 in san jose up to concord, 80 also 80 in napa, 72 in downtown and 69 right there in half moon bay. now, rainfall chances as we look ahead certainly look extremely impressive, especially off to the north. we're also tracking this feature to the south with this area of high pressure, some tropical remnant moisture from a system down there could actually make it up into san diego. i'm not concerned about this right now. we're still keeping a close watch on it. it's a storm off to the north that looks like that's what would be offering us some rain chances. and you can see it right here. this looks really, really good on first glance, but the problem is, is the brunt of the storm is positioned way off to the north of us, all the way down through the pacific northwest. and we're just on the bottom

this in lake county, north of napa county, a vegetation fire has quickly grown. the glen haven fire ignited just before noon yesterday. it's burned 400 acres so far. evacuations are underway around clear lake. two homes have been destroyed by the glen haven fire, and more than 2000 structures, including homes and businesses, are in harm's way. we have new video of the flames. the fire reportedly started on a hillside near the lake. in just four hours. it grew to more than 300 acres thanks to those hot, dry and windy conditions. fortunately, crews were able to stop forward progress of the flames just before ten last night. overnigh, 180 firefighters have been battling the blaze and on the ground and in the air, cal fire says the fight will continue nonstop this weekend. until that fire is under control. late in the year in october, which typically we experience some high wind conditions and all the fuels are extra dry. given the fact that we're under a red flag warnings, it means that we have the perfect recipe for a fire to be able to spread rapidly. cal fire now
