christie smith, nbc, bay area news. well, it turns out that california has had a significant decline in its death row population in 2024. that's according to a new report released this week by the nonprofit death penalty project. the death row population drop was lower than any other state in the u.s. last year. in total, death row dreased by 63 people with no executions. 13 of those died inmates while in prison, while the rest were either resentenced due to changes in state law. one person exonerate. in the past six years, california has sentenced 20 convicted murderers to death. an average of three people a year. today, a guilty plea from a man accused of flying a drone over the palisades fire. that drone then collided with a firefighting plane. prosecutors say peter aikman launched the drone from a parking structure to survey the damage from the fire. a couple of weeks ago. that's when he lost sight of the drone. that drone collided with the wing of a super scooper aircraft. investigators hope it serves as a warning
