i'd like to thank the city of new york for hosting us. i'm from texas and texans and new yorkers have a lot in common. we're proud of our heritage. we have a bunch of great accents. we're not afraid to fight for our country. this is the second time i've tried to be here. the first time i tried to come to this great facility, there were so many people here, it was hard to get into. so that warms my heart to know that there are many folks that are not going to forget what happened on those days of september 11th. this is special to me because i spent nine years with undercover options in the cia. mr. mayor, you talked about yemen. the day i left san antonio, texas, to start training in the cia was the day of the cole explosion. we did not take seriously what our enemies were saying then. you alluded to that in your opening remarks. we weren't taking seriously what was being stayed in the late '80s, either. it's usually and i'm nervous that we're not taking serious loy or serious fluff some of the concerns we have from all over the world rega

talking about security, brian, we've seen it all, those who live in new york. i remember years ago when i lived near the u.n., you'd see mailboxes this time of year during the general assembly. but we've seen new things, including eight-foot tall fencing along some corridors around here to get people to pass through. we have seen signs and even say "no drone zone" yes, they have to deal with the threat of drones. reminding people not a good idea to use those or selfie sticks, for that matter. we are also seeing something, i saw this in washington, d.c., this week, i believe we're going it see it here today, the tsa, people you normally encounter at the airport, running security checks at least at those security checkpoints, running the magnetometers and doing bag checks of people going into ticketed areas. everybody, this is an all hands on deck security event. various federal agencies from many -- federal agents from many different federal agencies who are taking place. there are police officers who work in other parts of town. we've heard stories of people ask

they played "new york, new york" to welcome pope francis to new york city today.hich is so freaking awesomely new york i can hardly -- ah, fuhgeddaboutit. but even though the pope was landing in the brooklyn of queens, the brooklyn diocese wanted to make sure to get the name brooklyn out there. the brooklyn diocese unveiled their giant banner on a nearby airplane hangar that said the diocese of brooklyn welcomes pope francis. rather than subject the pope to the admittedly and truly uninspiring drive from john f. kennedy airport in queens into manhattan where he was staying and where he was due this evening they decided to fly the pope that distance by helicopter. that gave us this sort of remarkable scene of the helicopter carrying the pope against the backdrop of the new york city skyline. after the papal helicopter landed in manhattan, pope francis then linked back up with his trusty papal fiat, which drove him to 5th avenue. up at the top of 5th avenue by central park he then got out of the fiat and got into his awesome jeep popemobile, which then proceeded slo
