newsom has been quiet. all of these things suggest that maybe newsom thinks the president is stealing his thunder, something like that? >> as we talk about the midterms here, not just for former president trump but president biden, there's probably going to be some movement. when do we expect either of those two to say okay, i'm jumping in the race in 2024? >> well, that's a very good question. the president has said he's not going to say anything until after the election. that freezes everybody else. every other possible contender. in the case of newsom, he's got two obstacles. one is just stay. the president says one term is enough. the other factor would be kamala harris. and the governor's not going to deal with her. so newsom's second obstacle is harris. she has to falter in some way, then perhaps he gets in. remember, newsom's only 54 years old. he's got a long arc here in terms of his political life, and he could easily wait to 2024, 2028, who knows. ego might be a reason, strategy might be a reason.
