people say there is no parking in north beach to see how much parking we actually have. during different times of the day or weeks. the other question is, the cost of taking credit cards. how is that priced into the parking rate? >> the new meters come with new costs and that includes communications cost because each one has a modem in it. as well as a credit-card processing fee. this city, and tsa, we pay for those processing costs. they vary by transaction. i do not know -- it is hard to generalize. they do qualify as micro payments so it is a smaller payment then you typically see. >> de know how much it has been so far? >> we have -- we did an evaluation of -- we are about to finish the evaluation. new meters vs old meters and letting people pay with credit cards and having a longer time limits. we saw that revenues increased substantially by letting people pay. even once you deduct the cost of the new meters, we make more revenue, making it easy to like what happened in the past. our meter revenue has gone up. our citation revenue has gone down. that is great. commi

hopefully, we saw it yesterday in chinatown and north beach. we saw it in a western addition area. i think it reference a 60% increase in the last four years in the number of bicycle trips. most of them are saying i want to bike more. there's our opportunity. there's where we can grow and we can learn. some folks are coming out for special events like sunday streets. more and more are riding every day. more and more are riding because we're making it easier and more convenient and more comfortable for them to ride. i want to thank the city family that helped deliver the separated green on market street. we've seen huge increases here on market street and we know this is what it will take. when we build it, they will come. we know we need to start at a younger and younger age. i'm proud of the safe roots program we're part of along with the city. we know that the appetite for bike suggest there when we're young. how do we cultivate that and keep it going and how do we make sure that our traffic jams in the future are bike parking log jams. we know we need to invest. the important bi

and this is north beach. the ortega branch was demolished. more recently, the planning department itself had a report on appleton and wofford, reporting that the neglect and actions by the renovation, under the bond program had actually caused library branches, specifically named, to become no longer landmark-worthy. that is the kind of demolition, this is a demolition of historical value. and much more recently, the oldest branch in the system, a little bit over 100 years, was considered by the historic preservation commission by landmarking. we did not do this at the time the library wanted renovations. this was changed for concessions to improve certain aspects of the renovation. in the last few months it appeared that there were blazingly bright pieces of metal that had been screwed into the facades. the apparent explanation is that what looks like triangular metal pieces are on the front -- they were there to deny homeless people and others the small ledge that they supposedly were walking across from the entrance to the library, and up
