morgan gill re closed the office on north beach street after he says a homeless person accosted one of his workers. but tonight he told us he will reopen his office next monday. with an increased police presence. a homeless camp has been growing outside the building for weeks. the al vagus army has bussed some of the people to a near by shelter. today the city manager told us he is coming up with another 100 beds for a temporary shelter. night of gonzalez. you remember her. the woman that once sued casey anthony is in jail. at seven, we broke the news of her arrest. now at 11:00 we learned she's accused of ripping off a cancer patient. jennifer ortega is at an orange county jail. jen, how did this happen? >> reporter: well detectives say gonzalez and her boyfriend stole that cancer patient's credit card back in december and used those to buy multiple things. 100s of dollars just for the holidays. >> they said they were desperate for money and so they took the card and they used it. >> reporter: detectives say gonzalez and her boyfriend stole the man's credit card from his room and went

refusing to leave, causing officials to shut down this is outside the administration center on north beach street. even though a shelter has been set up, assing see in the live pictures, many of those who are homeless have not gone anywhere. mark lehman is live this morning. what is the scene like, what is the mood like? >> well, you can see the building here behind me, many say that this building has become a safe haven for the homeless with numbers growing over the last several weeks. now that issue has reached a boiling point between the city and the county. that issue is leaving many frustrated. >> the salvation army spent monday offering shelter to nearly 50 people but there were few takers. the county and city continue to battle over what to do with the homeless camping outside the administration center. a place that has polk county a safe haven of sorts. >> are they getting out of an unfortunate situation and they know these are not going to get arrested. >> some say the scene outside isn't for employees. the property appraisal office closing its doors on monday and relocating after

this is all unfolding outside the county administration building on north beach street in daytona beach. news 6 reporter loren korn has been following the story since yesterday and joins us now live. what is next for the county? >> well, you mentioned that the building is staying open for now because one residents started complaining and, two, as of last to the county council and city commissioners. they want to address the homeless issue here but keeping the building open doesn't fix what's going on here and how it got so out of hand. >> the volusia county administration center was not always home to the more than 100 people who have been camping outside the building for the last two months. >> everywhere else you get arrested. here we're not getting arrested. >> the county says it's not citing them for trespassing. >> we're not trespassing anymore. the reason is, if we did, we'd go down the block to another county building. >> the county says it's a liability issue, afraid of a lawsuit if they remove people from the sidewalk. as a quick fix, the city partnered with salvation army to t

dozens of homeless people have been camping out for weeks now administration building on north beach street in daytona beach. now leaders are working to figure out what to do next with this situation. news 6 reporter amanda castro has been following this story. she joins us live out there now. have leaders figured out a solution to this now lingering problem? >> matt, they're still working on that. the permanent solution is to build a -- the long-term solution, rather, is to build a permanent fatality and help people get out of their homeless situation. right now, they're focusing on an immediate solution which includes finding temporary beds so people can go to a temporary shelter. >> dozens of people have spent the last two months camped in front of the volusia county administration center, posing problems for the workers there. it's a growing issue both city and county leaders are working to solve. >> to get the individuals placed into housing, to continue to look at where the gaps in services are, and how we can get additional shelter beds. pam woods is leading the effort. she sa
