the homeowners are taking a stand to stop a new development being proposed in front of the north phoenix baptist church on central and bethany home road. the church is working with a developer to build a three- story, 145 unit, luxury senior living facility on the east side of the church's parking lot. >> even our commercial areas are all lopr fit into the neighborhood and this, too roomy and -- it is inappropriate and will compromise the character of north-central. >> reporter: the developer is requesting that the city rezone the land to allow the project to move forward. the project that ipa claims would be similar to agriculture in gilbert. and attorney told us this is about taking care of the elderly community as they get older. this is not a shopping center. there was a large part of this community that supports this but many of the neighbors who live along central are not convinced. >> this is one of the last authentic neighborhoods that phoenix has and should be a point of pride.>> reporter: it just so happens that the north phoenix homeowners association will be holding its annua
