we have a lot of low clouds and they are banked up from the northern sonoma county coast through marinng to burn back. it's low-level moisture and with with that the visibility has been reduced in parts of the by area. mt. tam a pretty picture where temperatures have been in the upper 40s to low 50s with the blanket of clouds. once again we will see mild afternoon readings as high pressure remains in control. it's 25 in truckie. look at the snowpack. we will have a couple feet of no by this time next weekend. 52 fairfield. eye been sunny there all morning long with the sunshine in concord. it's working its way over toward livermore. and by about 10:00 most of the bay will be sunny except i think hayward, fremont and san carlos may be hanging on to a little bit of low includeddiness through the 10:00 area. look at the visibility. in the north bay if a half-mile to quarter mile. half moon bay and san jose at five miles. see san jose right now look pretty gray. but as it becomes sunny throughout the afternoon, the temperatures will respond and we will see spring like readings again today.

jose, looks like santa clara, but we're still getting a distinct line getting ready to move into northern sonoma county, another couple hours on this system. not too bad on the rainfall. snow hasn't been that much. a couple of reports coming in from tahoe, half inch at the key. there is a winter weather advisory out there, but maybe three to six inches more at the higher elevations, of course. we're talking lake level. we'll get a break here in the next couple of hours, so by noon this afternoon things will calm down a little bit. we have some rain here, it's a rainy pattern. there'll be some very hefty totals coming in over the weekend, especially in the north bay, heavy at times and i think for everybody over the weekend. here are some of the projections. i would not be surprised up to the north, especially mendin seeno county, but through sunday you can see three plus for many and rain down to san jose. so things are definitely looking juiced here as we head into not only today but the weekend. still some pretty good rain coming down in parts of the north bay. our system will be with us for t

let's go ahead and get a look, though, at the highest threat and that will be marin, napa, sonoma counties also northern county. that's for creeks, rivers and streams will be rising above where they should be and we'll also have to watch out for mud and debris flows at the coastal mountains. when we come back out here live, this is not feet of water. it's a few inches but it's a good example of how that ground just can't take any more water. we've seen about 3 to 4 inches in the past 36 hours. so at some point the ground, again, just can't hold that water. and, you know, we've got a building up here, but you think about the coastal mountains in the north bay that's where a lot of the water continues to rush down and that's, again, where we may have some problems as we head throughout the evening and also on sunday with another wave of wet weather coming our way. i said it before but i'll say it again, 2013, the driest calendar year on record. we have drought conditions in place. this likely could be some of the wettest weather since december of 2012. i didn't wear a hat today. i didn't put the hood on b

northern california. really bad weather this weekend. downed trees and power lines, caused flooding in parts of sonoma county. forecasters say the area got more than eight inches of rain and that caused a river to break its banks. folks say the weather has been wet. and they're welcoming it, because they have the horrible drought, but this is tough. >> see the rocks, see the dirt. nothing in this. >> triggered mudslides and washed away part of the road in that area. alex savage is a reporter from fox 2 news, our station in san francisco, and is live just north of the city in san an sell mow. how is it going? >> well, shep, good afternoon. many of the creeks that flow through this area are swelled this afternoon, felled with water. just a few days ago many of these creeks had a trickle and now quite a bit of water. this is a creek where we are. but as much as people want all of this water, it was a lot of rain that fell in just a short amount of time. some spots here got more than a foot of rain just this past weekend, some close to 20 inches. that triggered a lot of street flooding. businesses and homes were

sonoma. some of the creeks and poor drainage areas are looking at some flooding. here's a look. the rain is mainly a northernornia event and we focus in even closer and it's been a north bay event from hailsburg down through santa rosa. these are the areas in the flood risk for 10:45. we're looking at guerneville through bodega bay. notice all the green through concord, walnut creek and orinda. finally you're getting rain back on the peninsula. san francisco light rain, gusty winds and the rain extends over into hayward, 580 and livermore picking up some rain now. you've been dry in the early morning hours. san jose, a little bit of a break but down towards morgan hill and gilroy, looking at light, spotty rain. the coastal hills have been looking at heavier rain. here is the rain in the sierra nevada. unfortunately, the snow stacked up yesterday and what we have now is 38 degrees. raining at lake level and we will see more accumulating snow, but really not anywhere near lake level and above 7,000 feet. so anywhere from about a tenth of an inch to 0.2 in redwood city. you see a third at the airport, over 2 in
