. >>> san francisco valley's performance of the nutcracker was interrupted last night when a fire alarm went off. the war memorial opera house had to be evacuated. we received these pictures from viewers. so there was no fire, but the event turned out to be an opportunity for fans to take pictures with a few of the stars, including the rat king. after a quick run-through by security, the show went on. >>> it's quite a skier's weekend in tahoe. both squaw valley and resorts are open. despite two feet of snow from last week's storm, both resorts have snow makers going full time which puts them in good company. >> they are a using snow milking right now to get proposed for the olympics in sochi. here at lake tahoe, we are in the same position where we are able to offer skiers and riders open terrain and unable them to still get out there and enjoy the conditions. >> the other side of the story is without snow makers, squaw valley and alpine meadows would most likely be closed. the drought has been that severe. >> 5.9 inches for the year. that's the driest january on record. >> not good new
