take a look at some of the pictures seized by oakland pd at crime scenes. they are reporting over the past five years, oakland police have recovered an average of 1400 guns per year. also the gun buy-back program. this year the pd says it looks like they will bring in many a thousand guns off the street. that is down 30% from the average of the past five years. the problem is there are fewer cops, fewer specialized enforcement teams and at the same time homicides and shootings are on the rise dropping this year. oakland police says 80 officers lost to budget cuts last year, although 30 returned to the force. mayor says she has new agreement that the federal bureau of tobacco and firearms is going to help. but where there were six crime reduction teams there is now three. it's the ability to do pro-active work has now turned into reactive work. if you can't get the criminals off the streets before the crimes are committed, the crime is committed. >>> a san jose police officer arrested for molesting underage boys is due to face charges in court today. gilroy
