we are tracking a drastic drop in temperatures and meteorologist kathy orr is live on the skies deck with her first forecast, kathy. >> reporter: despite a few pop up showers we are looking at a dry evening jessica and a cold front is moving through. it is breezy already. we will feel the change, come tomorrow morning. on storm scan three we have been tracking a thunder shower that started off in chester county, moved across new castle county and now it is really shrink nothing parts of the salem county, new jersey. you can see right there orange and yellow, that is a thunder shower that is containing heavy rain about one quarters of an inch an hour in this cell right now in dearfield moving south east at 20 miles an hour. if you live in cumberland county clayville millville you will be seeing some of this rain by about 6:48, 6:50 this evening. so ab wear of. that wilmington is rain cooled 75 still 82 in philadelphia where it is dry. reading 85. but cold air is moving n you can see cool air in cleveland buffalo with temperatures in the 50's, that is what we will look forward to come

meteorologist kathy orr is here now to explain more. kathy?>> jess cash we had the warm dry conditions and with a little bit of wind through south jersey we saw this on storm scan3. here's the smoke plume from the this afternoon and we're still getting some returns from that. the southwesterly winds are pushing this toward the north and the west and we're talking about smelling the smoke as far to the north as northeast philadelphia residents there wonder wagon it was tonight. and those south southwesterly winds had continue into the overnight hours. now, during the day tomorrow there is a fire risk because of the dry conditions. the high temperature going for 83 degrees. still a relatively low humidity. dry brush and we haven't had rain in over two weeks. and that trend is going to continue. something that could get in the way of fighting the fire come tomorrow morning. dense fog that's going to be through south jersey and delaware. createing visibility issues for everyone and with the dense fog we do anticipate on shore flow that will contin

meteorologist kathy orr has more on the unsettled weather and these lightning strike.athy. >> well, you know, at that time of that lightning strike, we had a severe thunderstorm that was rolling across delaware county into philadelphia county, jessica, we'll take you back in time between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. right around 5:45, and you can see all the lightning associated with that particular storm and as we take a zoom in, you can see the lightning strike very close by. now this is the vicinity of hastings boulevard. this is where the lightning strike occurred and just to the south there is the lightning strike. when you have the lighting the atmosphere heats up so quickly and explosively that if you are close enough you will hear the boom and believe it or not this was very close win 1 mile that was the distance away from the lightning strike. so definitely a possibility with that that close. you can be struck within 10 miles even 15 to 20 miles within a lightning strike. right now, we are looking at temperatures that have cooled down in the wake of the rain. 74 in phil

meteorologist kathy orr is on the skies deck with the first look at the forecast, kathy. >> it has been a steamy daze today chris with temperatures soaring well in the 80's and we are looking at conditions that will stay quite warm over the course of the weekend. we have a rain deficit to talk about as well with the normally dry conditions across the delaware valley. now look at these numbers looking at a deficit of allentown over 3.5 inches on have rain, below average in trenton and in philadelphia, between two and 3 inches in wilmington, over an inch below average for this time of the year for this month. as we machine for the the drought in the yellow we can see normally dry conditions but as we zoom in here we have a drought watch with the lehigh valley, berks county in the poconos and when we talk about a maryland rate drought we're talking about conditions that could create crop damage, low water levels in places like reservoirs and wells, possibility of the water shortages and even voluntary restrictions. we do have some storms on their way, they are going to be moving in over th
