pam, i can give you an idea of what actually burned last night. these are an example of some of the containers that went up in flames. last night, firefighters were monitoring hot spots. the damage from what burned remains. >> plastics are made from oil products. it's a petroleum product. so it's the same visual effect as if you were seeing an oil fire. that's very intense heat. very thick, dark black smoke. >> we're just thankful that all of our employees evacuated safely. and we didn't have any injuries. >> reporter: five acres burned with an estimated 20,000 bins inside the yard of the factory here in fairfield. firefighters liken it to the heat of a tire fire. and the fire broke out shortly after 1:00 yesterday afternoon. 45 employees were at the plant at the time. and it appears a blow torch touched off flames and an employee mistake led to the huge fire. the only injuries reported, three firefighters retreated for minor injuries. health officials said they had no reports of smoke related injuries due to the fire, but residents within a mile
