nbc 10's pamela osborne is live with the latest on the search for the suspects, pam?reporter: these investigations are really just getting started. likely several suspects out there. at this hour what police have are a lot of victims and so many that they held off on giving us an official count and we did our own and counted nearly two dozen gunshot victims over a three-day period. >> right now, philadelphia police are investigating after 20 people were shot on what turned out to be a deadly holiday weekend. the violent carried through to this morning. on the other side of the crime scene tape on east clemmons street in kensington were cries of a woman who had just learneded a loved one was killed. the 34-year-old victim just the latest person who died after being shot this morning. hours earlier on woodland avenue an officer on patrol heard a gun shot. when the officer arrived to the 6200 block there was a crowd outside of a bar and a 27-year-old man lying dead in the street and on whitaker avenue, three people were shot outside of a sandwich shop. police believe tha

i'm pamela osborne, nbc 10 news. >>> switching gears now to breaking news we are following. two women were killed this morning in an accident involving a tractor trailer. you can see it there. sky force 10 was over the scene along the northbound lanes of the boulevard. we are live on the scene of the crash. >> you just learned more information about the victims. what do you know? >> reporter: well, those two victims were passengers in the car. according to police one was 25 years old and the other one was about 40 years old. they are both from the philadelphia area. according to police they were pronounced dead here on the scene. we want to give you a look at the scene. the medical examiner is here. they put up a white sheet as they premoremoved their bodies. some how he slammed into a tractor trailer parked on the outer lane of roosevelt boulevard. now first responders had to cut the suv open in an attempt to rescue those inside. no drugs or alcohol has been found here at the scene. the accident has caused a slow down in the inner lanes going northbound on the boulevard. it

nbc10's pamela osborne joins us live in the digital operations center to break it down. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. this is actually the largest nonnuclear weapon the united states military has ever used in combat. according to officials, 36 isis fighters were killed when the u.s. dropped a bomb on a tunnel network used by the islamic state in remote eastern afghanistan. the bomb was dropped at about 7:30 local time thursday. there were no civilian casualties. president trump called the operation "a very, very successful mission." we talked to a local retired navy fighter who was on 80 combat missions in afghanistan. here's a little more insight from him about why he feels the moab bomb was best for this particular target. >> the moab unleashes a huge shockwave. it was uniquely suited for this mission in a remote area where there's tunnels to really just put a shockwave through the tunnels and cave them in if possible to. it wouldn't be appropriate to use it in a big city center because you would level the city and cause a lot of civilian casualties. >> acro

nbc10's pamela osborne joins us live from the fire administration building in northern liberty. the fire department says the death has led to changes. tell us more about that. >> reporter: that's right. the commissioner is prepared to talk about those changes later on this morning. changes the department has made as a result of this. officials say fire lieutenant joyce craig died because a hose that supplied her with oxygen had burned through. in addition, the nefrinvestigat uncovered problems with how colleagues responded to her seven emergency distress signals. the failures happened as 37-year-old lieutenant craig was battling a house fire on middleton street in december of 2014. it was determined that there were other indirect causes to led to her death. the city report cites a lack of situational awareness, poor strategy and tactics, and at un-- and an uncoordinated rescue effort by her chief. adding she was a devastating loss to her family and fire department. she's hoping the lessons they learned from the reports will prevent this from happening ever again. we're expecting

nbc10's pamela osborne joins us live from temple university hospital where the victims are recovering. pam, the carnismed in the crash -- car involved in the crash was found outside a home. tell us more. >> reporter: it was, and the male victim that you mentioned who was very injured, critically injured, is recovering here at temple hospital. a second victim, a woman, is in stable condition with a broken leg following the hit-and-run accident. right now, you're looking at exclusive video of a person being taken into custody at a home on fraley street. he was later arrested by authorities. we're not showing his face because he hasn't been charged yet. we do know police tracked down the vehicle just before midnight. we got a look, and you see the damage to the windshield there. police say there was fresh blood on the car, as well. and the car's license plates had been removed by the time they tracked it down. according to police, the suspect vehicle hit the victims at 6th and erie and hunting park at 10:30 last night. investigators recovered a broken mirror at the scene that belonged to

that's where nbc10's pamela osborne joins us live at the scene. pam, you just got new information. tell us about it. >> reporter: yeah. we did. the 89-year-old victim is inside right now speaking with investigators. he told police there was a ring or knock on his door on chapel croft around 2:30 this morning. when he answered, two men with guns drawn forced him inside. they tied him to a chair in the kitchen with phone cords and duct tape. the suspects tore through the home and stole a safe that the victim said houses of dollars of cash and jewelry inside from the basement. they went to the garage and stole the victim's car. it's unique. police want you to hear the description -- a baby blue 1985 fleetwood cadillac with a dark blue vinyl top. it's a p.a. license plate of gyl3356. the victim was able to free himself and call police. right now, police are investigating the possibility that a woman either 24 or 25 years old who knew the victim may have been involved in this in addition to the two suspects they were looking for. unfortunately, the victim did not get a good description

pamela osborne has more with this story. fill us in. >> reporter: this attack was brief and brutal bp by the time it was over with, just a matter of minutes the three men that police are looking for right now had beaten that victim unconscious. to show you the surveillance video right now. this happened saturday afternoon on b street in kensington. you see two men one dressed in all-black, another dressed in all red with red shoes. then a little farther back you'll notice a man in a white shirt. there's the three suspects. watch what happens when the victim leaves the store after a job view. the suspects make their move. they begin punching then stomping the victim then watch as they search his pockets before taking off. we talked to a woman who works at a store near where the attack happened. also talked to the victim. he's a 25-year-old father. he didn't want to show his face but tells us he didn't even see it coming. >> lucky to walk away despite the injuries. i hope it doesn't happen to anybody. >> they just attacked him

nbc10's pamela osborne is in the digital operations center with more on her testimony and why prosecutors say the jury should spare frein's life. >> reporter: yeah. the defense has lined up its own witnesses for the sentencing phase of the trial. attorneys for frein says it was eric's father, mike frein, who talked constantly about revolution. their strategy is to point to frein's childhood, his struggles, constant need for approval from his father. his mother, sisters, friends, and even his father are set to testify and will ask the jury for mercy and sympathy for frein who they say was a loner with few friends and who could never live up to his dad. after frein was found guilty of all 12 counts, the prosecution called frein a terrorist. he also said that he intends to seek full justice for the victims. >> there's impact evidence that can be presented. so the jurors will have an opportunity to consider the impact that corporal brian dixon's death has had on the family. >> reporter: and this is tiffany dixon. she's the widow of corporal brian dixon. she spoke to the jury for more than an

pamela osborne joins us live from the museum. several big names on hand for today's grand opening. >> reporter: that's right. too many names to mention. here's one you might recognize -- former vice president joe biden. he's lined up to speak and participate in today's event. you can see this -- they're doing finishing touches now trying to get everything ready. we wanted to give you a sneak peek of what you can expect to find inside. as you mentioned, today is the anniversary of the shot heard around the world. it ignited the revolutionary war in 1775. and now we have the museum that houses more than 3,000 pieces of our history. there are films that bring history to life, interactive displays, even the tent that george washington used during the war has been carefully reconstructed. last night there was an opening gala. today all of this opens to the public. things get started at 8:00 this morning at the tomb fof the unknown. that will be followed by a march to washington square. then of course, there are many things to do and s

nbc 10's pamela osborne is standing by live. what's the latest? >> reporter: things are moving along pretty quickly this morning. they have been through opening statements and they were going over some of the witness testimony inside of the courtroom. there is a short break they are on right now. so far what we have heard is system from the officer that first responded to creato's 911 call. they testified creato was cooperative. they have also taken a look at the apartment where he lived and where brenden spent weekends. during the opening statements this morning the prosecution set the tone of what they intend to do. they allege he killed his three-year-old son in october of 2015. he pleaded not guilty says his son simply wandered out of the apartment. the prosecution says evidence will show that is not the case. brenden is afraid of the dark. it is their evidence that he would not have walked off into the place where his body was found in the dark of night. brenden wasn't wearing any shoes. when his body was discovered his socks were clean. and
