fox 29's chris o'connell in norristown where he talk with penndot. chris dot warm temperatures today change how they prepare? >> reporter: well, no. they're getting a good jump start on it because they haven't had to do anything most of the winter because of the warm winter we've had so far. as you can see, i put on jacket. last hour just the shirt, the temperatures continue to drop. for instance, about 2:00 o'clock this afternoon, 70 degrees just four hours later look at the temperature now in norristown, dipping down to 53 degrees right now as those temperatures continue to dip. we're also seeing evidence of the storm coming. it was clear when we got here a couple hours ago, look at the skies. those clouds are beginning to build here above the penndot yard here in norristown. look what else we're seeing he here. a full load of salt, rock salt here because like we said the stacks are stacked high because these trucks now starting to get fired up. >> that was the sound of the penndot drivers filling up their trucks with loads of this rock salt. they'

penndot is preparing for the snow's arrival. jane tidwell says make sure your emergency kit is in your car tonight. make sure you have a portable shovel, a car brush and ice scraper and clean the car off before you get going. but some other things to consider. some rock salt, or sand, kitty litter, get some traction going behind the tires if you slip around a bit. and extra washer fluid and de-icer. in the event you get stuck on the road. you have to make sure you have nonperishable food and medication you may need and your car is filled with gas and a good battery and check your tire pressure and aaa says don't drive before cleaning off your car. >> it's the law in pennsylvania to clear your car before heading on the roads. once the snow event has happened. >> so back out live, penndot crews are ready and they are also reminding drivers to use extra caution, they say you want to have six car lengths between you and the plow trucks and never try to pass them. gray hall, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. >>> that win ter sto

penndot officials wrapped up a news conference. chris are they ready for this first significant snow? >> reporter: well, they are, iain. first things first. i can't ever remember covering an impending storm the night before with nothing but a shirt, sleeves rolled up not so in 12 hours from now. the when the morning crew is going to be out they they'll be snow covered with this storm coming. penndot preparing for what could be the biggest snowfall so far this year, definitely prepared forecasted to be the timing of this storm most challenges for penndot for the morning rush hour forecasted to be one of those wet, heavy snows. but in terms of salt supply, no problem here. philly still has more than 100,000 tons of rock salt on hand from overly warm winter. but here's something you will not see. take look at that tank over there. blue tank. that is brian. that brian solution. that's what they tip three would be doing at this hour before a storm but they are not doing it for this storm because it makes no sense at all wash away. they

we've got police and penndot on the scene.ou see the arrow board two lanes are blocked, you have one lane squeezing by i-95 northbound at girard because of an accident. they were blocking all lanes with police and emergency workers on the scene. one lane gets by, they were sweeping debris out of the way. you're traveling five miles per hour. this delay has grown, it was past the vine. approach the vine street expressway, traveling in the single digits on i-95 northbound where you would normally be flying. it's jammed because of an accident blocking all but one lane. the other accident in mount laurel burlington county. chopper 6 hd is showing us the latest. it's involving this tractor-trailer. it's hooked up to a tow truck here. they have two heavy duty tow trucks on the scene. here's what happened, the tractor-trailer hit an overpass, they have to check the structural integrity of the overpass before all lanes can get by. two people were injured they had medevac helicopter on the scene. it was a mess. even now it's a slow cra
