petaluma police are still here at the scene of this shooting. friends say the victim was kim connover coming out of the law offices of divorce attorney jeff zimmerman. witnesses say her estranged husband kevin was in the street waiting for her with a gun. when petaluma police responded to the scene downtown, they approached in a defensive mode. all they knew was a report of shots fired, a gun lying on the sidewalk and two people on the ground. >> initially when the officers got here, they didn't know what they had. so they had two people that had gunshot wounds. they dragged them back to a safe location, not knowing if there was an outstanding third suspect. >> reporter: police say there was no third suspect. the shooter was identified as 41-year-old kevin connover and the intended victim as 43-year- old kim connover. the divorce attorney was secured at the scene and had nothing to do with the shooting and is cooperating with the witness. the couple was going through a divorce and this woman said kevin wasn't handling it well. >> i lived in pet
