kpix 5's betty yu continues our storm watch coverage live in petaluma. >> we're on north petaluma boulevard near highway 116 and it has not stopped raining for the last couple hours. this area was hit particularly hard during the last big storm and this time around it's expected to get hit even harder. >> reporter: the caution signs are out. warning drivers as the rain steadily fell for hours tonight. this evening two fir trees were no match for mother nature in guerneville. they fell right on to a home on highway 116 and tore off a large corner of the hillside house. luckily no injuries were reported. the heavy rain forced the brief closure of highway 116. it was dangerous for traffic and completely saturated the roads. the golden gate ferry has already alerted passengers that service between tiburon and san francisco may be impacted by high winds. and the early morning trip will be canceled if it's unsafe to dock in tiburon. this evening the ferry was still operational. >> it was smooth here. >> good driving. but we'll see. i think it's all the direction of the winds. >> reporter: the nat

we just passed petaluma on 101 north. you are going see some issues as far as potential flooding in rows when you are driving alon . i actually tweeted out some videos not too long ago. more and more of the rain. i have some videos from san rafael of some rain issues in the area. pretty much of what we show you on our live shot and some of the videos you see there. that's what we are seeing all morning long in our short drive here in the north bay starting from the middle valley area as we are enroute into santa rosa. we are hearing reports of a number of flooded roads in that area. that area is prone to a lot of flooding. we'll check in again and i am going to take advantage of this, this is my driest live report so far this morning. at 5:00 a.m. and 5:30. we'll get what's happening in santa rosa. we'll keep an eye on this condition here and i will tweet more videos. we are live, i guess in the live drive in petaluma, we'll send it back to you guys. >>> this rain is exactly what they did not need in sausolito. today in t

out of petaluma, out of the eastside, you know the spot.t a typical to see the flood, but they are all responding to the heaviest rain which has really been in a northbay. it will continue that way tonight, and so the thing to point out with this is the russian river drainage basin which is about 60 square miles, i think even more than that, will get more rain. you don't have to have rain in hillsboro to fill that appeal you can have rain higher be on there. the idea is that russian river is going to have a chance to get right to flood stages as we get to friday. not expecting benny big issue there, but we can write out to the top. same with napa river, and the issue is of course with a lot of this is that we are going to continue to see rain tonight, and that rain will mainly in a northbay. you see the radar basically showing it, and it's ripping right through san rafael and petaluma. some of the rainfall rates are relatively high. we've already seen in 46 inches in some places, all the storm reports, and a lot of these reports are focused

( robin ) happening now... police in morgan hill are looking for the driver who intentionally hit a pedestrian and then took off. it happened just before 10:00 last night on vineyard boulevard behind the safeway on tennant station. the victim suffered only minor injuries. the truck that hit the pedestrian is described a fullsized black or dark gray pickup with a lift kit and black rims. . >> reporter: new video just came in and shows us the flooding from llano road to petaluma avenue. >> several streets of flooded in vacaville. >> we always ask this, these atmospheric rivers, are they going to stop anytime soon? >> they will be weaker but there is more on the way. we will continue to get rain off and on all the way through march. there is a lot more to go here. we are seeing 15-20 inches of rain in short periods of time. and there is still a fine line between a lot of snow and not a lot of snow. we will probably have another one-2 feet of snow for some people. if you are south of i-80 you hardly got any. just a tremendous amount of very wet snow up there. and that winter storm warning goes until late tonight and early tomorrow morning. so that will continue. it is tough going. 80 has been closed and that is because of avalanche control. the heavy band of moisture that parked itself over the north has moved off but there is still rain. not a lot but there is still steady rain going through petaluma up to santa rosa and then parts north. and, right now, the santa cruz

a school bus was caught in floodwaters near petaluma today. these are pictures of the bus sent to us hiwas on liberty road around 7:20 this morning. according to c-h-p, the driver and a student on board were taken to the petaluma police department by a good samaritan.and amazingly... the bus was undamaged. the eagle was found shot in petaluma. jodi hernandez visited the wildlife rescue where people tried tirelessly to save the bird. >> we really thought this bird would get back up into the sky and fly flee again. >> that was the hope when rescuers scooped up this bald eagle in petaluma last week after someone spotted it hiding in the bushes on their property. >> we could tell there was something wrong with the week it looked like it was broken. >> turns out the bird was shot a pellet lodged in its wing and a bone shattered. >> when we saw this beautiful majestic bald eagle was shot, we were pretty -- it was a tragic moment for all of us. a soft-sided enclosure. >> reporter: after a week of caring for it rescuers took it to the uc davis vet hospital where doctors determined it not only had a broken wing, but a severely damaged heart from years of lead poisoning. the eagle was euthanized. >> somebody knew darn well, what they were doing. people should know it's a federal offense, these birds are highly protected. >> reporter:
