pete suratos is live from the san francisco supreme court house. what are the lawyers asking for here, pete? >> reporter: yeah, good morning to you, laura. first things first, the man samuel yatum didn't appear in court and the public defender did and he asked the judge that he be released on bail. the judge denied that request so he's going to remain in custody. i want to show our viewers an incident alleged with this man, may be the man involved in the attack. this is from may 24th. you can see a man viciously kicking a motionless homeless man on a sidewalk in the tender tony. that homeless man with serious injuries as a result and another incident. police didn't provide the video on that but that was another attack with the same man days later on may 29th. this time, the suspect attacks a man riding on an muni bus near 8th and mission street, grabbing the man and repeatedly slamming his face into a steel handrail. police did release this surveil lens video and a police officer spotted him on market street near is civic center plaza and arrested h

pete suratos has the very latest. >> reporter: good morning to you. we had oakland police come out here in front of children's hospital to give us a briefing on what happened in all of this. they tell us that the 3-year-old is in stable condition here at children's hospital and we had a special moment after the briefing. you can see the acting oakland police chief along side other members of oakland police department bringing the teddy bear to that 3 year old who is currently in stable condition. we want to let the mother and the 3 year old know that they are working hard to track down the suspect. there were multiple scenes as it relates to the specific shooting. the first piece of video here is a look near the 1600 block of 80th avenue. that is near where the shooting took place roughly around 9:30 p.m. according to oakland police they are saying shots were fired at a car in that area. in that car was a 3-year-old boy with his mother. police say fragments from one of the rounds hit the child, injurying him in the face. the next piece of video is at

pete suratos spoke with passenger who is got off the plane. >> reporter: hearing from passengers who said they were actually on the plane for about 40 minutes in that flight that was expected to head to sydney. they were there for about 40 minutes before it was turned to sfo, but they say that the landing was safe. i want to show you some of the video from when the plane landed here at sfo. now, according to officials, we're hearing that united flight 863 took flight from sfo around 11:00 p.m. before returning, due to an engine problem. now, passengers said it was a smooth landing and an sfo official says there were roughly six to eight emergency vehicles waiting upon the flight's return. it did not affect airport operations, but the runway reopening about a minute or two later. i want to show our viewers a screen shot of the actual flight path from flightaware.com. you can see there on the fath of the flight, as it circles around back to sfo. now, i did get an e-mail from united, who said they did dump fuel during the return of that flight. now, here's what those passengers on that
