but this morning, pg&e has a serious warning. go to anne makovec to tell us more about what the utility says could happen to customers if forced to cut their pressure. >> reporter: i wouldn't call it a doomsday scenario but pg&e is laying out some serious consequences if it complies with one of the main proposals from the public utilities commission. so the question, what do we want to risk inconvenience for safety? after what happened in san bruno last september, state regulators have been considering new rules for pg&e's gas lines and a few weeks ago the utility was ordered to produce records on all of its urban gas lines. records on a third of those pipelines are still missing so the state proposes that pg&e reduce pressure on all its older lines like the one that blew up in san bruno, specifically the lines with records that are still missingch pg&e says a 20% cut in its so-called backbone pipes would produce unfortunate consequences. it would reduce gas pressure by 67%, cause uncontrolled pilot outages, pilot light problems,

take a look at what pg&e has found.says union organizing effort is to blame for the hunger strike. a claim that is denied by the former employees and their supporters. >>> san francisco muni operators are scheduled to begin voting today on whether to authorize a strike if negotiations with city transportation officials break down. the transport workers union and the municipal transportation agency have been in contract talks for several weeks. muni operators will be voting today through next thursday. strike authorization does not mean workers will walk out automatically. but it allows the union the option to call a strike. city law does not allow muni operators to strike, but union says that rule is open to interpretation. >>> golden gate bridge commissioners set to vote on a measure to raise the bus and ferry fares each year for the next five years. committee of the golden gate bridge district approved the rate hikes yesterday if approved by the full board. the fare increase start in july and will raise $2.6 million f

pg&e feels it's not getting a fair shake from regulators. they are starting with the presumption of guilt. if the recordkeeping investigation finds the utility was in the wrong, they can face a fine of $20,000 a day for every day the pipeline was in operation. it was installed in 1956. if you do the math, the fine could add up to somewhere in the neighborhood of $400 million. reporting live in san bruno, bob redell, today in the bay. >> san jose police are investigating the 14th homicide of the year. a 24-year-old man was shot and killed monday morning on south capital avenue. officers say a homeowner called police around 6:00 a.m. to report an intruder shot her friend. >>> south bay dog owners are wondering what happened after a dog appeared happy and healthy and suddenly died after going to a dog park. the dog park is closed this morning. a woman took her dog to the park saturday. within minutes, the dog became ill. after circling the fencing inside the small dog area, a rescued dog started panting heavily and vomiting. they took the pup t

we have quite a few pg&e truxs out here this morning.d me, two off to the side here, and they seem to keep coming to get the power back on. they have been at it since 12:30 this morning. pg&e says this underground equipment failure that happened overnight happened here at hays and gulf streets. now this is an update affecting 430 customers this morning. that's down from the high of 6600 customers overnight. most of them in the neighborhood of hays valley and neighborhoods west all the way from van eys to octavia. it is hit and miss. some of the intersections and street lights are totally dark. others are just fine and have been all morning. not sure exactly when this entire situation is going to be repaired, yet we are in touch with pg&e this morning. san francisco police are out here directing traffic in the busier intersections. other intersections have flares down. that has been going on so long that some of the flares have burned out. we are seeing drivers trying to make the best of it coming to a stop even though the intersection is
