and here's what we found out from philadelphia police. this happened yesterday afternoon a little after 4:30 on the 2200 block of west sedgely. the two we're told were riding bikes down that road, came up behind a silver buick that had four men inside. at some point police say the boys realized that something wasn't right so they turned to get away, but at least two of the men got out and started chasing them, firing 17 shottings. we spoke with a pastor who is in that neighborhood. he says the streets have only gotten worse. >> any time you hear about kids that's sad, it's a shame you can't even ride the streets no more. >> reporter: at this point again there have not been arrests but the other boy, he is 15, he was not injured. he was able to talk with detectives last night telling them he has never seen these men before. and we talked with investigators so far no confirmed motive but they are working on the theory that this could be a case of road rage. we'll stay on top of this. matt delucia, "nbc 10 news." >>> happening today in the l

this street there are law enforcement vehicles, state troopers, motorcycle, cars as well as philadelphia police. you can see what's happening here. this is blocked off with tape but you can see that police officers and troopers have been gathering here as we often see when there is an officer injured. we also saw that this particular trooper was visited today by both the d.a. as you just mentioned, philadelphia d.a. seth williams as well as the mayor. the d.a. telling us the trooper was doing well and joking. that the trooper was in good spirits. the mayor talking about the trooper being in good spirits. we have been been told by state police that the trooper was shot in the shoulder from the back and that he is alert, conscious and talking. that's something the d.a. mentioned to us that this is a male trooper referring to him. we hadn't been told whether it was a male or female. one other thing the mayor mentioned, the school bus. he confirmed there were no children so that's an update. we have heard from the d.a. and the mayor, we are expecting to hear from police commissioner ramsey as well
