(anchor) time now to check on our weather... with chief meteorologist lawrence karnow. lawrence karnow: we saw a little sunshine between the clouds today. there was some thick fog early and it was slow to burn off in some areas keeping those temperatues cool. we're seeing a few showers off the coast on our doppler radar. this is the first part of the storm that will soon affect the bay area. on the satellite image you can see a beautuiful swirl of clouds off the coast. notice all of the cold speckled clouds too. that's a sign of cold air showers behind the main cold front. this will likely be the coldest storm of the season with some of our highest mountains seeing a dusting of snow. snow level will drop to around 3,000 feet by friday. if you're traveling in the sierra the next couple of days make sure to plan for wintry weather and don't forget rain will begin in the north bay tonight and slowly spread south through the day tomorrow. highs tomorrow will be cooler with 50s to low 60s.

in bay point, philippe djegal, kron four news. stone) a man who escaped from a hawaii psychiatric hospital and flew to san jose is awaiting extradition. randall saito is still expected to be extradited back to hawaii with the help of the u-s marshal's service. the timing of the flight will not be made public for security reasons. a california judge extended the time that saito can be held in the state to january 29th. saito walked out of the hawaii state hospital in november, took a taxi to the airport, and boarded a plane to san jose. police arrested him in stockton, california three days later. (justine) a san jose man has been convicted of sexually assaulting a boy in haward... the boy was only five years- old. 22-year-old edgar hernandez was found guilty last month for multiple charges including engaging in lewd acts with a child. police say hernandez regularly sexually abused the boy at his home in hayward. he knew the child because of his relationship with the victim's mother. the boy eventually told his mother after months

( darya ) in the south bay...e woman who was shot by police. she's teresa haddox... and she is expected to survive. the shooting happened monday on feller avenue in san jose. police haddox was armed with a shotgun... threatening to commit suicide. the chief of police says most officers have undergone mandatory training in dealing with suicidal individuals. but in this case... there was little time for officers to engage haddox. police say she came out of her house holding the gun and pointed it at officers. that's when officers fired one shot hitting haddox.
