we're live this morning in north potomac potomac. mollette green. back to you. >> france raising the terror threat level to the highest level after a suspected terrorist attack in the country this morning. it happened at a gas factory in the south eastern part of the country near lion france. the company, ire products is u.s.-owned and based in allen town. here's what we can tell you. a man was decapitated during this attack. he was a local businessman and he was also the suspect's boss. now, two flags with arabic writing were found near his body. they still have to be analyzed the writing. two people were wounded in the attack. a car rammed through the gate at the front of this plant, hit gas canisters there causing a huge explosion. this happened at about 10:00 in the morning. one suspect was arrested. there are investigators, believe, other accomplices and they also think they were trying to blow up the plant. the suspect known to authorities previously was investigated for terror-related trvt but that sur tray slens va lens surveillance ended in

after their car crashed early this morning in north potomac. it happened overnight on dufief mill road. we now know at least three of the victims recently graduated from watten high school. nikki burdine has been at the accident site all morning with the latest. >> reporter: good morning. in potomac, two teenagers are dead after their car flew through a fence and hit a tree and then landed upside down in someone's front ward. >> a little after midnight. we heard a huge noise. >> reporter: when sandy gordon woke up to find his fence destroyed and trees damaged in front of the dufief mill road home but wasn't until he realized what had happened. >> they were young. unfortunately. >> reporter: police have not released the names of the victims but friends tell us three of them attended wooten high school and had a connection to the football team. >> one of the boys was standing up and said we really knead help. we really need help. there was one boy inside trying to move and then he finally got out. but -- the two in the back didn't. >> reporter: s

now coming out of shepherds town west virginia in southern sections across southern potomac to washington county. a warning there. another farther southwest. this is moving through the portions of faquier county. you see this line of heavy rain to push into prince william's county before long. that is the local issue. there are more showers developing as we speak. the iest action is in pennsylvania. a number of warnings besides the severe warnings as well. this is the southern stretch of line number one. these could spin up an isolated tornado. nothing yet. a larger line to the south and southwest until about 8:00 or 9:00. the threat until 8:00 for the most severe weather is three and a half hours and then we'll be done with that. this is the map. everybody in yellow under a severe tornado watch.

breaking overnight, two people are dead and two are in the hospital after a terrible accident in north potomac. it happened on dufief mill road which is where we are standing right now. but it happened a little bit further down the way. so you really can't see anything from this spot except where the road is closed which is right here at travilah road and dufief mill road. however we have video of the accident where it actually happened just before midnight. police tell us a blue sedan ran off the road and hit austere and stopped in someone's front yard in the 1300 block of dufief mill road. two people were pronounced dead

here is the radar a couple of thunderstorms, one moving down the potomac river. almost diminished completely and one thunderstorm moving through manassas and i-95. this will produce a little bit of light rain. and shower activity not far from the american legion bridge on the virginia side, but nothing crazy heavy a couple of light showers straddling inside the beltway. south of silver spring a couple of showers around tysons corner, but thankfully they are all greens and nothing heavy so the south, and at one time it was decent storm. now it is all green which is light on our legend. so just a little bit of light sure activity around woodbridge and south of lorton. if you're going between lorton and fredericksburg, yes, you'll have wet pavement to deal with, but that is about it. it will go across the river and head to potomac heights by about 7:09 on storm tracker, but it will not intensify. the temperatures, look at this. still 91 in d.c. but only 84 in manassas. still 92 in fredericksburg. we'll talk about the cold front. will it finally lower temperature for

poe potomac, maryland still an awful lot of high water across the area. we've had a tremendous amount of rain today and areas of severe weather as well. my colleague veronica johnson joins me with coverage of the storm reports and what we've seen throughout the day. >> reports of trees down throughout the area. that was a pocket down across southern portions of d.c. through southern maryland even around fredricksburg and extreme southeast of virginia. let me show you the storm reports. you can see the line of rain now and thunderstorms well east of our area. here are some of the storm reports we've been examining through charles county where there was at one point a tornado warning down through st. mary's and calvert. eight large trees down. swan point road near laplata. further south there were sightings of funnel clouds. funnel cloud about a mile and a half just south of hanover courthouse. because it was so close to our area and because these storms were driving to the north and northeast, that's why we were on the air with those tornado warnings keepi

ellison barber is at that scene now with the latest from potomac, maryland. ellison? >> reporter: when we put up here, the first thing i heard was a park police helicopter flying in the air. we don't hear that anymore because most of the crews have left the scene because the sun is starting to set. they'll be back at sunrise looking for this person, but this was a very active search that involved multiple agencies, montgomery fire and rescue, montgomery county and fairfax police and the u.s. park police looking on land, sea and in the water. one thing they were using the helicopter which was the most noticeable thing. we saw a lot of people going out to look in boats in full diving gear and there were police officers using thermal energy to potentially look for a body along the shore. what we know now is there were two men in their early 20s swimming in the river. only one of them made it out. a spokesperson for the fire and rescue in montgomery county told me one of the men was swimming near the shore. so he got out on his own. the other man was further out when he s

just a gorgeous sunrise here looking over the potomac.are going to increase but so do the clouds as we head through the afternoon. 84 degrees by 4:00 and back down to 81 by 7:00. a couple of showers today but the better chance for showers will arrive after the sun sets unless you're over through the 81 corridor. that's where we get a little bit of extra rain. take a look at your futurecast. clouds increasing throughout the mid-morning through the early afternoon. this is 1:30. generally pretty dry. a couple of stray showers here or there during the afternoon hours but most areas are dry. 8:00 here are the heavier downpours i mentioned through the 81 corridor. some of the showers will start to fall apart a little bit so between 8:00 and 10:00 it starts to approach the 95 corridor but still the bulk of it is back off to the west through culpeper, warrenton, orange, down through the shenandoah valley east of 81 as well. as we head 10:00 to midnight, that's when we'll see the heavier storms and they will bring lots of rain for your sleeping h
