. >> reporter: right now, the phones and the computers of abdulazeez are at the fbi lab in quantico, virginia, in an effort to find clues to his motive. he was not under fbi investigation, not under surveillance. the fbi want to know how he was able to operate under the radar. they're looking at his travel. including a seven-month travel to jordan last year. did he secretly go to other countries during that visit? they want to find out if he was using online aliases to view violent propaganda or using incrypted data to contact overseas radicals. >> law enforcement is asking, is there more we could have done? is there more that we should have done? were people aware that he was traveling to that region? were there signs that he was exhibiting in the community that were missed? >> reporter: the fbi is under tremendous pressure with terrorism investigations in all 50 states. involves hundreds of suspected radicals. many thought to be isis sympathizers. just one week before the chattanooga terror attack, the fbi director was sounding the alarm before congress.

one brand-new accident. 95 southbound at quantico. details on these other problems including one here in the districry in california. four firefighters hurt battling some fast moving flames in northern california. we are told one of the victims is in serious condition and right now, that fire in the sierra nevada foothills is only 15% contained. at least 40 homes are under a mandatory evacuation but up to 200 homes are considered at risk. firefighters are concerned the wind will shift today and drive those flames back south. if that is the case hundreds more homes could be threatened. >>> firefighters rescued a dog in fairfax county from a burning home. take a look at this scene here. firefighters say they saved the dog from this fire at a house in west springfield on carly parkway. it caught fire last week. you can see they saved a very appreciative dog when they responded to the scene. now this is all video that came from the firefighter's camera. which was mounted on the gear on the helmet part. they saved this dog and they rescued
