western japan, possibly approaching islands about thursday local time, but already feeding the stationary boundary that is just below this area. and dumping heavy rain across the southwestern islands of japan. southern okinawa, we see these waives due to this picking up, about 6 meters high, starting tomorrow. the pacific side will be looking quite wet. but high pressure dominates much of the northern half of japan and things are hot and dry. we'll take a look at the temperatures in hokkaido. very different story with the very torrential rain. it is an ongoing event and flooding has not been alleviated yet. gun area has seen 250 millimeters of rein in the past 24 hours. in the next 24 hours, it's going to be moving and dumping quite heavy amounts of rain which could trigger flooding. take a look at these temperatures. even up here, hokkaido's the hottest today at 30 degrees. around this time of the year and in the hottest time of summer, average is about 26 degrees. so that's really hot. and some people may not even own acs out there. so do watch out for heatstroke. here's our extended forecast. >>> taking a look at our lead story once again. north

rain even winds possibly up around tropical storm strength. and then also about four-meter-high waves with this as it pushes out towards the north just west of the islands eventually recurving back here towards the east. near the mainland coast you can see about two-meter high waves, upwards of about three meters high and then you're talking about the rain. the rain not expecting to be all too heavy. the problem is is that it's going to be persistent here throughout the next several days and that could cause some flooding. storms intensify monday through tuesday. up to about 93 kilometers per hour maxing out. then we have the rainy season front right here and also some cooler sea surface temperatures, that's going to mix in with this too. but that front is going to kick up the wind shear. as you can see on the model it completely falls apart and drifts off. really don't expect this to make landfall as a tropical system or at least with the gusty tropical storm strength winds. that's going to continue to pull off towards the north and towards the east throughout the remainder of the week. then towards the west southeastern china getting in on heavy showe

raining in western maryland now. 64 degrees in hagerstown, elkton and easton 58, the mid 60s pax river and dc. 63 westminster, 61 bel air, 62 columbia, 67 kent island and annapolis. you're going to notice it's more mumd humid this morning than yesterday. riding along the spine of the mountains this shower activity. it will start to migrate in an eastern direction. i think we'll say -- any time from 10:00, 11:00 this morning through the afternoon there's going to be a scattered shower around. there's rain in the nighttime forecast. there's a lot of rain in tomorrow's forecast because of what is now known as andrea. andrea is not that far off the shore after essentially north of tampa. it's making land fall with a lot of rain, thunderstorms, tornado watch and warnings across florida. once this action gets to our area it's just going to be a big rainstorm. there are not going to be storm or tropical force winds. just a lot of rain. actually, some of that action you see out to our west is streaming out ahead of the low tomorrow that's going to be pulled up the eastern sea board. we'll keep a watch on ocean city for any high surf advisories. common sens
