sunshine expected in japan the next several days but not the case for the southwestern islands of japan seeing heavy rain due to this low pressure and frontal system. 50 millimeters of rain in just one hour and a big concern. it's affecting taiwan and south korea as well. and for the indochina peninsula, rain is heavy across the west coast and already had 85 millimeters of rain in north thailand and rain and thunderstorms in northwestern china. temperatures on the high side. 26 degrees despite the rainy weather and over 30 degrees in kyoto on wednesday. north america, nothing like last week's storm, but a strong low pressure system hitting areas of the midwest. this red area, isolated tornados likely and thunderstorms, hail and gusty winds are possible into the next several hours. as we go into wednesday, the worse area is going to be found from new mexico into arkansas. tornados are not likely, but a risk of severe weather remains here. now, we have seen some strong low pressure systems over the gulf of mexico. it may become a tropical storm over the next 48 hours and it will stay over the same area. so

rain even winds possibly up around tropical storm strength. and then also about four-meter-high waves with this as it pushes out towards the north just west of the islands eventually recurving back here towards the east. near the mainland coast you can see about two-meter high waves, upwards of about three meters high and then you're talking about the rain. the rain not expecting to be all too heavy. the problem is is that it's going to be persistent here throughout the next several days and that could cause some flooding. storms intensify monday through tuesday. up to about 93 kilometers per hour maxing out. then we have the rainy season front right here and also some cooler sea surface temperatures, that's going to mix in with this too. but that front is going to kick up the wind shear. as you can see on the model it completely falls apart and drifts off. really don't expect this to make landfall as a tropical system or at least with the gusty tropical storm strength winds. that's going to continue to pull off towards the north and towards the east throughout the remainder of the week. then towards the west southeastern china getting in on heavy showe

islands of japan will get stormy starting tomorrow. waves could hit as high as five meters. across the north, the rain formed once again over the korean peninsula and western japan. they may get as much as 150 millimeters of rain into tomorrow morning. flooding will be a big concern and the rain will spread to the rest of japan into tomorrow. across china then precipitation is not too heavy, but the main concern is the extreme heat. take a look at this. 38 degrees for you and 32 in beijing. 35 in shanghai. the heat will likely linger for the next couple of days at least. across india, we are talking about heavy rain and the monsoon an flow started earlier in places. this is the on set of the rainy season and the boundary reached the southwestern corner of the country starting a month earlier than usual. that's good news for many people who are involved in agricultural industry and not good news with flooding. we have flooding across the west coast of india. unfortunately heavy rain will mean that throughout the day. over northern india, they will be tapering off. now we have a newly developed tropical

reached the new york area, post-tropical storm andrea still packed heavy rains and winds, this caused flash flooding in areas like long islandby hurricane sandy seven months ago. just a few miles north of new york city for us. what are the folks dealing with besides a pretty swollen river behind you? >> good morning to you, alex. a surging river. the water, the a rain has stopped but the flooding still a huge issue and the river really the main cause as this hurricane -- tropical storm i should say made its way north. the water still pours down is now making its way back here again in the rivers. this is the river. i'm going to step over and show you the river parkway. this is a major artery leading into the city and i am able to actually walk in the middle of it this morning because it remains this morning shut down. police making sure that several miles of this strip are not accessible by car because several inches of water remain this morning in some cases even over a foot. the concern, obviously, hydroplaning as we saw last night. this road we are told will remain shut down into the later morning and even the early after

heavy rain from post-tropical cyclone andrea caused flooding making it difficult to drive in areas. some people had to be rescued from their cars on long islander hour winds and could drop up to 5 inches of rain on new jersey and new england today. and people yesterday in south florida faced severe flooding there. is what it looked like at the height of the rush hour. a lot of accidents, hundreds of cars stalled, thousands of muters got stuck in traffic. one man thought he could stay a step ahead ended up stranded. >> left my office at 3:30 trying to beat the rain and flooding. i got as far as the store here and i pulled in the parking lot. >> and he ended up stuck there for just about three hours. bands of showers drenched the area with more than a foot of rain by 9:00 last night. the water covered sidewalks went up to the doorsteps where people fought the tide with good old sandbags. >>> well a costly move for the 49ers. the new price tag to build the new stadium. and how much it's over the original budget. >>> but first, a live look outside. the golden gate bridge, still that morning blanket of fog on this saturday morning. time now 9:10.
