randall pinkston joins us now from tampa where the storm cancelled the republican national convention events. >> hello there, how are you? the storm was expected to hit tampa but it did not happen, as you can see we have sunny skies. the republican national convention officials just opened the session and then recessed until tomorrow. they say they can squeeze in everything in three days. meanwhile isaac is 70 mi. west of here out in the gulf of mexico turning north at 40 m.p.h., expected to make landfall by late tuesday or early wednesday, people there are bracing for the worse. a >> 53,000 people that live west of new orleans have been ordered to evacuate. many residents are heeding that warning filling up their cars and having in mind. >> we will take off. we went through katrina, and had a bad experience with that. >> ithe surface picking up. >> they're forecasting it to become a hurricane later today, if not today then tonight. >> it is expected to become a category one hurricane before it hits land late tuesday or early wednesday which is the seventh anniversary of hurricane kat

randall pinkston reports at least four people have contracted it and died in this country so far thisear. >> reporter: the sebeno family spends a lot of time outdoors. >> we're out at either baseball games or pool parties or hiking. >> reporter: and with the mosquitoes biting the centers for disease control is warning everyone to take precautions against west nile virus. about 240 people have contracted the virus. that's the highest number at this time of year since 2004. most cases are in texas, mississippi and oklahoma. >> we're early in the season. august and september are usually peak transmission periods. so having this much activity this early and this widespread is cause for concern. >> reporter: the most common symptoms include fever, headache and body aches, but the virus can also trigger potentially deadly symptoms such as inflammation of the brain. people over 50 and those with cancer or diabetic are at greatest risk for serious illness. to keep the bugs away, look for products that contain deet because they are the most effective, but be cautious using them on children. >>

we've got local reactions from the community, but let's first begin with randall pinkston with reports. >> reporter: police are blocking the temple outside milwaukee, wisconsin, after a gunman allegedly killed at least six people. and investigators, they say that the suspect will also be dead. killed in a shootout with police. >> our officer is a 20-year veteran, ambushed, shot multiple times. another officer on scene, they were engaged by the suspect and our officer did engage in that individual and that individual is deceased. >> reporter: police received the first 911 calls around 10:30 in oak creek. several law enforcement agencies, including the fbi respond. >> we're treating this as a domestic terrorist type incident. therefore the fbi has the resources needed to help investigate that. >> after the shoot off, four bodies were inside the temple, three others were inside. several other people were wounded, including this man's uncle who said that the shooting happened before many worshipers arrived for sunday's services. >> if this had happened just an hour later, god knows how man
