randy gyllenhaal. >> from the mountains to the city. we got an update from the city of philadelphia about cleaning the snow from the streets. >> george spencer is live for us in sky force 10 with that story. and we're looking at a side street that needs some work there. >> reporter: the city says it's making progress. but in places like this it's slow going. you're looking at rugby street. quite a contrast to the streets that have been plowed. the city says about 70 trucks will be working through the night tonight to finally get to some of these lingering residential roads. streets department tells us it has cleared secondary roads but 70% of residential streets like this one have been hit by a plow. the streets department acknowledged a number of complaints have come in about streets like this one not being completely plowed. they say when they respond, they're finding in some cases that's an accurate complaint. in other cases it's a situation where some of the refreezing has occurred there on the street's suffer and it's made it look

nbc10's randy gyllenhaal is one of them. he is live in fairmount park today. >> reporter: a lot of outdoor events today. here along the schuylkill river, the 35th annual murphy cup regatta. it's a good thing we got the cold weather out of the way earlier this week. expecting temperatures in the 70s today. the regatta begins here in a couple hours. local teams from drexel to temple competing. this is the 35th year of the event. they tell me 35 years ago it was four teams. this year they have more than 40 from all over the country, and they say weather like this makes it a perfect day to get on the river. you're expecting today to be fantastic. >> yes! we're excited. i try to not look at the weather until it gets close because there is not much we can do about it. 70 degrees, mild winds. we're looking forward to a great day. >> reporter: we're expecting spectators to line up along the river at 7:00 or 8:00. they hit the river starting at 8:00. it lasts all day. kelly drive in both directions will be closed starting at 6:00 a.m

the philadelphia flower show opens to the public today and nbc 10's randy gyllenhaal is inside the convention center. looks like people are already taking pictures. loving this spring like atmosphere. ran randy? >> reporter: the doors opened for members just a few minutes ago and packed. we're inside the pennsylvania philadelphia flower show. the theme is called holland flowering the world honoring the contributions of the dutch. folks in the netherlands to the horticulture industry. they have these beautiful flowers with magnificent lighting. since it's honoring holland they have these awesome windmills. this is ann from virginia. it is your birthday or close to your birthday. >> this is. this was my birthday present. >> reporter: you were outside. it's frigid cold. what's it like in here? >> it's wonderful. the smells are wonderful. beautiful. one of the prettiest things i've ever seen. >> reporter: almost like spring inside. >> definitely like spring. >> reporter: there's so much to see inside the philadelphia flower show. in addition to all the exhibits honoring the netherlands they also

. >> let's check in with randy gyllenhaal in allentown. >> that storm rolled through where you are, what did you see? >> reporter: came here first dropping a lot of water on the retention ponds, it did not last long the line of storms came through an hour ago. downpours, winds did pick up for a few minutes, i checked with lehigh county police radio, they report no damage, no issues. the storm system has moved out of here. you'll remember on saturday, in some parts of our area, including berks and lancaster, we saw power lines and trees down. today's storm packing a lot of rain, that's about it here, as quickly as it arrived, i did move out of here. earlier today it was warm in the lehigh valley, now that the storm has passed through, we're back to chillier temperatures right now. nbc10 news. >>> the same system that swept across our area is deadly destr the midwest. a helicopter flew over missouri today to get a look at that damage. a total of 22 tornados were reported across missouri, illinois, iowa, tennessee and indiana tuesday. one person was killed in missouri. at least two others a
