joining me is msnbc news correspondent rehema ellis. so, how did this guy get out?:00 news conference coming up. he was in an exercise yard within the confines of authorities. and they are telling us they had surveillance cameras. well, he got up on an exercise -- piece of exercise equipment, climbed on top of that. from there he climbed on top of a roof and got through a metal portion of the roof. imagine, he had bed sheets with him or they were in place. they were tied together. he used that to shimmy down the wall and off into the woods. they're looking for him now. >> was he awaiting trial? >> he is awaiting a hearing arraignment. in fact, he's due to be arraigned in pennsylvania tomorrow on these charges with which he was in custody. >> so, police say he's a survivalist. >> yes, self-trained survivalist. someone interested in what's going on in the woods or how would he care for himself, feed himself if he had to. well, maybe, this is one of those times he has to. that's why they're saying they're searching in these wooded areas. the terrain is steep, very hill

priscilla thompson is in houston and rehema ellis is following the philadelphia story here in studio. what more can you tell us about the two shootings in texas? unrelated? >> so those two shootings richard appear to be unrelated. one of them happened just before midnight at a community block party that was happening to celebrate the fourth of july. and that is the shooting where there were three people killed and eight injured including a minor believed to be among the victims. what police described was really a chaotic scene. they were called out to this neighborhood on the west side of fort worth and when they got there, there were cars everywhere. foot traffic everywhere. they had difficulty even getting some of those balances in. they were able to find a number of those victims in a parking lot and get those folks treated but one officer actually found a victim and had to put that victim inside of his patrol car and bring that victim to an ambulance just because of the chaos and really the area where this happened. it was a block party so we're talking about a crime scene that is
