joe, is this the end for rick perry? >> that is always last gasp is happening when you start laying off everybody on the payroll and start saving money, hoarding it to pay for candidate travel. again, that is a function of to a large degree on trump. rick perry has never gotten any oxygen in this race. as a whole lot of the other candidates. i mean trump's big, it is not just jeb bush and walker and rubio, the three or four that people always considered had a shot at nomination. it is everybody else is just getting blocked out by this giant shadow being cast by, that trump casts. and, you will start seeing, i think winnowing out process will happen a lot faster than people think because if you can't get any oxygen, you don't have any money, you will start -- the thing that stop as campaign is when it runs out of money. they will, people will keep out there and stay out there as long as they can, hoping they can catch fire. when they run out of money, they just can't keep going. i think rick perry may be paying the price.

but it feels like rick perry may be toast. the polling results after that first hugely watched debate also suggest that the other person who may be toast is new jersey governor chris christie. governor christie has been at the ragged edge of irrelevance throughout this campaign all year long. latest results show him not only getting a bump out of his debate performance but, in fact, dropping even further than he already was in the polls. his numbers are now low enough that if a candidate like fiorina continues to do well, carly fiorina may very well bump christie out of the top ten so he will only be in the kids' table debate next month when that debate is hosted by cnn. like rick perry, though, to be fair, it's not totally clear that you can blame the first debate for chris christie's woes, right? people thought he would be a good debater. he didn't make any splash at the debate at all. but in addition to that debate stuff, he also has a lot of home state baggage that you can't discount. i mean, the bridgegate scandal is stil
