it is a big day for ross mirkarimi has he takes another step toward getting his job back. a look at today's ethics commission hearing. christie, good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you, marla. well, ross mirkarimi tried to get this resolved in the courtroom to get his job back as san francisco sheriff. but a judge didn't agree with the arguments he was presenting. so now the whole thing heads here to san francisco city hall where it will go before an ethics commission, which will begin by trying to figure out the whole process and protocol for this hearing that starts at 4:30 this afternoon. mirkarimi was only sworn in in early january days after an altercation with his wife. he pleaded guilty to a domestic violence intervention class. but ed lee stepped in to suspend him without pay. the plan initially calls for written briefs from both sides and then later it could include testimony for the whole thing could take weeks. earlier, mirkarimi's attorney told us it seems kind of vague. >> you could have this ethics commission composed of these particular members, decid

heading into court today, ross mirkarimi seemed relieved to have shared his story. the suspended sheriff appeared on radio yesterday and told his version of the fight with his wife. saying he bruised her arm when he grabbed her to try and move her way from their son because she was so emotional and was upsetting the 2-year-old. >> i'm happy that i mustered the energy to share part of that story. obviously it takes more than 30 seconds to do. but the bottom line is, i take full responsibility. >> reporter: the city attorney's office was listening. one attorney didn't go so far as to call mirkarimi a liar. but said his public statements don't match the evidence she says they have. >> we don't think the explanations that are being offered now are particularly credible. and we are prepared to go forward at the ethics committee with evidence to show why they are not. >> reporter: we asked mirkarimi about her claims. >> all i can tell you is that i've taken responsibility for what has occurred. and being held accountable for it now. that has already been adjudicated. >> r

now during testimony, several spoke on behalf of sheriff ross mirkarimi's behalf. others were less involved. >> now the ethics commission is scheduled to hold another public meeting on may 29thth. >>> 4:49 investigating a shooting that happened in a man's death. an officer was a loan conducting a follow-up investigation on gold coast drive right near dover avenue. at some point a violent struggle occurred with a violent officer and 51-year-old suspect. the officer shot the suspect, he was pronounced dead at the hospital, he was a 16 year veteran and has been placed on administrative leave. right now 145 people are still in east oakland after they crashed into a utility pole. that happened on 69th avenue just before 6:00 last night. now we spoke with pg&e about an hour ago and they said power should be fully restored by 9:00. >>> we also have a power outage from when a crane took down wires in south san francisco. two of those wires fell on a cal train track, power was restored to everybody at 145 this evening. let's check in with sal for complete traffic, good morn
