the difference between san mateo county and san francisco is san mateo county pays for it. i'm saying san francisco should not. it is time that corporate responsibility be compelled and everything we possibly can in order to alleviate from the burden of having to refer to our general fund. i have also tried to work with both this administration and merely -- tried to work with both the newsom and lee administrations. unless the city is willing to stand up with the forecast as probable legislation if we enact this legislation, that makes people a little concerned that this is not something we can support. i get that. so i just e-mailed the office of the mayor. i appreciate the conversation i have had with him and his staff. we agreed together that what we will do is create a trial program for one year. it will be considerably more robust than the one that has been expressed before. there has been a miniature trial program in san francisco with 10 independent pharmacies that are willing to set up a disposal receptacle program. the reason why it is independent pharmacies is bec

recoaling is the new trash company facing problems here in san mateo county. the issue stems from a trash company switch over. previously allied waste provided it was for san mateo county. the new provider has had a rough couple of days. in the first three days of the takeover, complaints have poured in from more than 8,000 customers and the calls keep coming. the calls have gone straight to the company's customer service line according to to the san jose mercury. customers report service stinks. they serve 440,000 people between burling game and east palo alto. redwood city residents are even more frustrated since they're bracing themselves for an 18% hike in garbage services. the biggest complaint is missed pick up and yesterday a 50,000 gallon diesel fuel leaked into a storm drain which dumps water into the san francisco bay. a truck drove over a large rock puncturing the gas tank. they signed a more than $50 million per year contract to provide service to san mateo county customers through 2020. now we've tried contacting the company but have yet to reach a

we have done outreach meetings in san mateo county and sarah plant county and marin county, precisely for the purpose that you mentioned. we have also done webinars and the newfangled technology things, and i have to give credit for the staff because i would not be able to do that if you pressed me. as you know, we can do a 30-year plan and have all-day meetings here and people do not pay a huge amount of attention until you have a specific proposal to do a project. that is the challenge planning has all the time, and that is why we believe the education process is very important. to have that discussion, mutually educate each other, and get to the point several years down the line when there is a more robust body of information that can inform and actual decision. what i can tell you is that we have received three letters that are included in the record. one is the letter from the university of california supporting the continuation of the analysis. one is from the bay area air quality management district strongly urging the analysis, and we also have a letter from the san mateo coun

we have a brand-new trouble spot to report in san mateo county.t was first reported as debris in lanes. looks like someone had lost a christmas tree. it was blocking the right lane. a vehicle then hit the tree and rolled down the embankment. no word of injuries. lanes are not blocked. again, this is northbound 280 at 92. and according to our sensors, speeds are actually moving okay through that area. we do have chp on the scene. you can see southbound 280 seeing some slight delays though through that area. this is a pretty foggy area this morning, as well. so that vehicle may not have seen that tree that was stuck in lanes so give yourself some extra time. also in the san mateo area, here's live look at the san mateo bridge where traffic is moving along fine. in fact, friday light between hayward and foster city. no delays to report through there. everything is clear right now in the east bay as far as accidents go. we are seeing some nice speeds overall this morning on 880, 24. if you have you're take the eastshore freeway, your approach to the b

san mateo bridge. it's 15 minutes out of hayward. 280 from san mateo county up into hillsborough, foggy. but fortunately there are no official fog advisories issued right now by chp. let's go to our maps. yesterday there were fog advisories for this area as you cross the carquinez bridge and the benicia bridge. but again not the case so far this morning. we'll let you know if that changes. right now the drive on highway 4 through antioch actually looks good, as well. no changing color on our sensors all the way out towards pittsburg and concord. of course we are still following this water main break, as well. it is on castro valley boulevard just west of villareal drive. it's been there since about 2:30 this morning. we know county road crews are heading out to the scene now. about 3 to 4 inches of water are in the roads because of the water main break as well as rocks and sediment. it will take a while to clean up. there are some flares in the road which are visible from 580 so kind of a visual distraction as well if you are crossing on the 580 freeway even though the water main break i
