. >> we have abc seven news team coverage and we'll start with meteorologist sandhya patel. sandhya. conditions out there just do not look good. >> yeah, it's been really hazy and smoky. larry and alma best to avoid exposure. let's take a look at a live picture from our emeryville camera. you can see as we look towards 80 that it's sort of a murky view as smoke impacts from those wildfires in northern california. and oregon continuing here in the bay area. spare the air alert is up today and it is going to continue tomorrow. poor air quality both days. one thing we have noticed today is very subtle, but the onshore winds have picked up napa, gusting to 28 miles an hour. and that has brought some improved to parts of the north bay in the green as you will notice. but many parts of the bay area in the yellow, which is moderate and orange, which is poor for sensitive groups, you'll want to shut your windows and doors and put your ac on, recirculate if you do have it, because it's not good, obviously, to breathe this as we go hour by hour that smoke is still with us at 6:00 this

. >> for details on all this, let's get to abc7 news meteorologist sandhya patel. sandhya yeah, julian. >> and let's take a look at the air quality. it just got worse for a few cities from san francisco to oakland to san rafael. it is orange which is poor for sensitive groups, moderate across many other parts of the bay area. it is best to stay inside, close your doors and windows and put your ac on. recirculate these are our tower cameras and you can see from mt. tam, it's very hard to see because of the haze. and here is a view of it, an air quality advisory remains up through tomorrow as we are expecting the smoke from wildfires in northern california and oregon to continue to impact us during this time period. we go hour by hour with the smoke forecast and notice that that smoke just gets worse towards tomorrow morning at 6 a.m. as the winds relax a bit and then the wind will pick up. so that will help to disperse some of that smoke as we head towards tomorrow. we also have fire danger coming up. i'll be back with a closer look at that coming up. julian >> okay.

let's get to meteorologist sandhya patel for how the weather is going to be. sandhya, it's going to be nice for the weekend. >> julian and omar. let's take a look at the temperatures right now. if you like what you see, then you're going to enjoy this weekend. temperatures in the low 60s to the mid 80s. this afternoon, many areas running cooler than average with onshore winds contributing to that novato gusting to 20 miles an hour. it's a sustained win of 22 miles an hour in san francisco. so the circulation around the area of low pressure, that's sitting off the coastline is counterclockwise cause that's the onshore winds that's providing us with the deep marine layer and the cooler weather. and that trend is going to continue through the weekend. and this low is cut off from the main flow. so it's not going to go anywhere anytime soon, which means we'll keep those temperatures below where they should be for several days. right now on live doppler seven, you will notice the clouds that were banked up along the coastline still there. here are some tower camera

abc seven news meteorologist sandhya patel has an el nino update. sandhya.t just came out today. >> alma and julian. let's take a look at it. so el nino is warmer than average sea surface temperatures near the equator and that's been happening. it's been going on. we have el nino right now, but they issued an advisory today saying that there's a greater than 95% chance of el nino continues through winter, which is basically january through march. the odds of a strong event has increased to 71. but they're cautioning that a strong event doesn't necessarily mean strong impacts locally. we'll see how it all unfolds this winter. we do know one thing today unfolded it to be a nice day. high pressure in control of our weather and that brought us the quiet conditions, lingering clouds at the coast never quite completely cleared. you could see it here on live doppler seven, but we saw plenty of sun around the bay and inland. temperatures right now 60 coast side, 80 inland. so we're in the comfort zone and we do have a combination of the sunshine and some low clouds

. >> first, let's hear from abc's seven news meteorologist sandhya patel. she has the forecast. a live picture right now from walnut creek camera and you can pretty much see that it is a hazy view right now as we take a look at the air quality just about everybody in the moderate to poor category. so oranges, poor for sensitive groups. and the yellow is moderate. but one thing i have noticed is there is some good air quality starting to show up in parts of the north bay as that sea breeze has increased. it's just temporary, but at least there is some sign of improvement. there now we look at the smoke forecast, 7:00 tonight. it's still going to be hazy and smoky as those wildfires burning to our north continue to send smoke in our direction. tomorrow morning, starting out with the haze and the smoke as it all settles. and then tomorrow night, it'll get a little more diffuse. and so we take a look at that spare the air alert. it is in

checking in with our abc7 news meteorologist sandhya patel. yeah >> and julian and kristen, those waves have really built as we take a look at the large swells . notice they're up to 15ft. monterey bay buoy, 11 footers around san francisco, 13ft point arena. so we take a look at a live picture from santa cruz. camera and yes, some people are enjoying the coastline. but just a reminder, as kristin mentioned, don't turn your back to the ocean as those waves are dangerous. swimming and surfing is dangerous right now. rainfall totals, we had some this morning , santa rosa, 16 hundredths of an inch kentfield four hundredths along with oakland, seven hundredths in san francisco, five hundredths in hayward. but the one that really sticks out is mount tam orographic lifting, providing enough of a squeeze. got 5000/300 of an inch live doppler seven right now showing you pretty nice weather out there. there are a few patches of low clouds. this area of low pressure is what's been kicking up the surf, the pacific northwest and northern california have go
