like many others in santa fe which sits in the heart of texas country. her focus has been on improving school safety measures not don't control. i don't blame the gun. it wasn't a gun that walked in there bite, so i think killed my son. parents need to be held responsible. gun owners need to be held responsible. after christ rosie and her daughters got licenses to carry concealed handguns. she believes they can protect her and her family. i do feel like it's a safe tool. i don't like that now our students that way. i don't like because that our kids feel like they have to have some kind of weapon in order to make it in this world. but that's the reality that we live in. ah, that reality means that it's parents and their kids to school. there. now thinking of ways to keep them safe there, and there's a growing industry to help them walk down. drill right now. this was your classroom, this is the only door in and out. where would your teacher have you go and go there no, go go. just go, this is a class for kids as young as 8 years old, called school safe.

we have some very good examples in new mexico, the santa fe indian school which is a bia tribally -- a tribally 1 school but also nat i testify american community academy which do amazing jobs and send their students to harvard and yale and stanford and the university of new mexico. i want to touch a bit on an issue that just came up before i was able to get in on the hearing with regards to, you know, a conversation i was having with the director of our major cancer center at u of m and we have been talking about the fact that we have a great need for public health professionals and that as we come out of the pandemic and look at the need to address the disparities in health outcomes it also means that we are going to need more students who graduate and come out with [ inaudible ] they're going to need more doctors, need more nurses, some of that is going to be available and we fund the community colleges that we were just talking about and as we provide more funds to minority-serving institutions, 23 of our 29 institutiones in new mexico are minority serving but i think having an e
