"action news"'s sarah bloomquist is already there and says security is very tight. >> reporter: we're here outside quicken loans arena in the heart of downtown cleveland. they have been working for weeks months getting this place ready for the republicans. you can see as well that there are barricades ready to go here, ready to line the streets. they have more fencing ready to go up as well along the streets here in downtown cleveland. in light of the recent events they are working to make this place as safe as possible. we talked to someone with the convention today. here's what he said about the security plan that's in place. >> this area from july 18th to july 201st is really going to be just about the safest place in the entire world. the security forces that we've had on the ground here for more than a year are top notch and what people need to realize is that when they see disruptions or process at political rallies, those events are planned maybe three or four days in advance. we have had folks here for a year planning for this event. >> reporter: much more on the security plan

. >> our jim gardner and sarah bloomquist are in cleveland this week with gavel to gavel coverage. their live reports continue tonight. >> hillary clinton is holding on to a five point lead against donald trump with 42% of national voters compared to trump's 37%. gary johnson is making gains with 13%. the numbers show that little has changed for clinton or trump since the primaries began in june. >>> septa will make the commute is bit more smoother with additional rail cars. annie mccormick is live at a septa stop with the early bird travelers. >> reporter: that's right, septa is hoping by adding the five rail cars it will help ease overcrowding while they work to fix the defective cars they discovered earlier in the month. take a look behind me you can see the people waiting for their trains. later on there are more cars expected to join the rails, as well. july 1, 120 rail cars went out of service after an alert septa employee discovered defects on the silver liner cars. not including today's expected addition, 18 cars are on lease from amtrak and maryland and new jersey transit
