the big one at the top is shasta reservoir which is way down. the one on the right-hand side is don pedro reservoir and it's very low and 37% of capacity or something like that right now. fortunately our water bank water is in the county mechanism so even if it leaves the reservoir for the districts to use we get credit because we put it there for their use at the right time of the year and the rest of the state is in hurting shape and this is a state water project so we look at concerns going into the next year so what about next year? so we have done some modeling going forward. the first note if it's above or at median precipitation we're -- [inaudible] average year that is enough to fill hetch hetchy three times so an average year would be really nice to have. if it's similar to 2007 and low precipitation and at least some snowfall and dryer than normal but the results will keep us at 10% reduction and something that we can sustain in the future.

rue rousseff is in the lead in the polls but it's too close to call, shasta darlington, cnn, sao paulostrong typhoon is set to impact japan by the end of this weekend. >> meteorologist derek van dam joins us with the newest information on this. derek, how does it look. >> japan in the spotlight once again. this storm intensified rapidly over the past 24 hours. it's now a strong category 3 teetering on a weak category 4 and it's actually forecast to strengthen going forward over the next day or so. this is the latest satellite loop you can see the eye wall of this particular strong, strong typhoon. 205 kilometer per hour wind gusts, sustained winds, higher wind gusts just around that eye wall. now, this storm is moving at quite a pace, 15 kilometers per hour out of the northwest or in the northwesterly direction rather and this storm is set to intensify to a category 4 in the next 24 hours but do have something working for us. we're actually expecting this to actually weaken before it just brushes the japanese islands over the next two to three days but the timing is extremely critical.

up near shasta is where we have our best chance of any high elevation snow today. most of what's falling up to our north is going to be rain. and it is going to stay to the north. still a little breezy, especially up at 2600 feet. as we look at the clear conditions that are over top of all of us. this afternoon it will be breezy especially near the coast. not quite as breezy as it was yesterday afternoon. this is what i'm thinking going forward. it's going to be sunny and dry this afternoon. matt and i were kind of talking temperature right in our sweet spot, upper 60s to low 70s. you can be outside and it's not going to be too hot. you can do vigorous work in the yard. warming trend during the week, temperatures will get above average. then we've got a storm for halloween friday. it could be stronger than the one we had yesterday. we need the rain. timing, not all that great. here we go. 70 at san jose. 71 at los gatos. 68 at santa cruz. you're going to find a very homogenized air mass. mid-60s along the coast to upper 60s in downtown. south san francisco. upper 6
