sheena parveen is in the storm team 4 weather center. sheena? >> good morning, guys. we have fog out there this morning. the bus stop is looking decent except for some of the fog. the commute, keep in mind that patchy fog on perfect weather if you want to exercise. sunny and dry. school forecast for this morning. areas of fog by 7:00 a.m. 60 degrees. lunchtime, low 730s. ged outside for recess today and 3:00 p.m., mid-70s. temperatures mostly in the mid up toer 50s. 55 manassas, 59 degrees currently in clinton. now we're going to look at hurricane irma. look at this thing. it is still organized and defined. north of the dominican republic on a track to the turks and caicos as a category 5. we don't expect this to be weakening as it nears the turks and caicos. max winds 180 miles an hour. this is the most recent update from the national hurricane center. the path is looking similar. heading towards the u.s. between cuba and the bahamas. this will keep it as a major hurricane strength. either a 4 or a 5. then we expect the north turn going into saturday night and early

take a look at the screen. >>> sheena parveen is here.now you've been closely watching the track of irma. there's updates coming in the next hour. >> we just got the new 5:00 a.m. advisory. sometimes we get lucky and it comes in early. we just got the 5:00 a.m. update. it is down to a category 4. it's not a cat 5 anymore. it doesn't matter, though. this is really powerful. wind at 155 miles an hour. it's moving over shallower water, approaching shallower water, i should say. but still a very strong storm. it's north of cuba. still bad news for florida. that would mean the center stays over warm water in the mid to upper 80s. that's the water temperature. early sunday or late saturday it should take that north turn. early sunday it moves into south florida potentially category 4 hurricane. this is going to be bad for the florida keys and miami as well. some of the florida keys with the storm surge could be covered by the water. then it would move inland the spine of florida, the interior section could still remain a major hurricane because

we want to get to sheena parveen for the track on this storm. >> this is a very similar area of irma.s just a little bit farther south. it is moving into puerto rico. category 4. don't look at the category, because as it's updated as a category 4, before it was 5. we're only looking at the difference of a wind speed of 5 miles an hour. now as it moves through the updated track, still keeping it east of the bahamas. as we go into the weekend taking a turn up to the middle of the atlantic. maybe it will stay out to sea. here's a live look at radar coming out of puerto rico. heavy rain into the island. look at the eye. it is about to move on land. hit with the storm. that's 155 miles an hour. either way, this is still very devastating. as we go through the next couple of days we'll see what the track is going to do. we'll take a closer look coming up. >> thank you, sheena n. puerto rico that rain is falling across the entire island. the winds are getting stronger. the landfall expected to make a direct hit on puerto rico. the governor saying the storm could hit folks with a force and vio

let's go to sheena parveen with more on irma's track. sheena? >> good morning. an up from the 5:00 -- update from the 5:00 advisory. winds sustained at 155 miles per hour. it has weakened a little bit. it's still a huge threat to the state of florida as we go into saturday and sunday, it will be taking that turn to the north over very warm waters here. it's going to be expected to stay a major hurricane. moving into south florida, the keys and south florida as far as storm surge and high winds are concerned, moving inland near tampa by monday morning, possibly still as a hurricane. it's so large, it will impact both coastlines of florida. it will move inland and the remnants towards tennessee. this is a huge storm. about 400 miles wide. it's going to cover the entire state of florida. coming up in a bit, we'll talk about what florida may be expecting locally and speaking of that, somara has a loo your weekend forecast. >> you know what, this weekend is shaping up to be a nice one. in fact, we can head out to the beach maybe. let's look at what we can expect. the

. >> an update from storm tea meteorologist sheena parveen. what is the storm doing now. >> it's over puerto rico the center as a category 4 hurricane. we'll zoom in here now. the eye of the hurricane as it moves over puerto rico, you see it does not become as obvious but it is right over the island here heading out soon, but the winds are expected to stay very high as this thing re-emerges in the atlantic and eventually moves up near the bahamas. a category 4 the latest advisory, the 11:00 a.m. advisory from the national hurricane center. winds 140 miles per hour, dropped a bit, but this is still an extremely strong hurricane. it's moving to the northwest at 12 miles an hour. picked up a little bit of speed. as we go into the weekend it will be east of the bahamas taking the north turn into the atlantic and then by monday, could be close to the north carolina coastline or it could be heading out to sea. typically and historically the storm stays east of the bahama has a better chance of saying at sea. we're far away and we'll be tracking this

let's go to the weather center and sheena parveen. >> it's a category 1.t's bound to be causing issues closer to land. here it is. as we go through time, we're going to advance this and you see the track of this. so it is expected to weaken. but take a look at this loop that it does. some computer models, they keep it offshore but they're showing t this. hurricane jose right off the coastline. it's causing tropical storm watches and warnings, mainly for the offshore waters. if you're parts of southern delaware, rehoboth beach, along the jersey shore, that's a tropical storm watch. we had warnings off the coast of the eastern shore. winds gusting 40 miles per hour inland, closer to 20 miles an hour. high surf for the eastern shore, too. that's not only the only one. we're watching maria which could be a major hurricane nearing puerto rico. dominican republic and potentially near the bahamas, we'll take a closer look at this. it will impact coming up in a bit. >> sheena, thanks for that. >>> as irma blew through key west residents and other islanders had to

i'm angie goff along with my friend sheena parveen who has been extremely busy tracking two natural dissasters going on. we want to beg breaking news out of mexico right now. that is where we are watching rescues, frantic rescues still underway and the death toll continues to rise after that huge 7.1 earthquake that happened in mexico city. keeping a close eye of course on the hurricane, hurricane maria. it continues to make its way towards puerto rico. take a look. you can just hear the roar of this ferocious storm. check out the new video. this is in from saint croix and you can hear hurricane maria and the wrath that she is bring iin and tearing through the island there. in puerto rico now rain is falling across the entire island, winds getting stronger. video from yesterday where residents were rushing against time to get ready ahead of maria striking.

. >>> now with more on where irma is headed we turn to storm team4 meteorologist sheena parveen. >> sheena, you have been looking at all these models. is there any chance this storm will lose strength as it starts to get closer to the u.s. >> no, there is nothing that's going to be weakening this storm and water weftemperatures are s favorable, close to 90 degrees. that is way warmer than it even needs to be to continue to strengthen a hurricane. so it's going to stay strong. take a look. this is the te still a category 5, max winds 105 miles an hour. it's currently nearing the virgin islands, but take a look at what's going to happen as it gets closer to the u.s. all morning long, computer models have been shifting a little bit farther to the east. now the cone is reflecting that. still expected to potentially be a major hurricane. we're going to be watching this closely because if it does stay offshore by chance, and stays just off the east coast of florida, all eyes would then be on the carolinas. here's a look right now. the satellite image perfectly looking eye heading toward the virg
