sky force 10 was over the scene. shortly after the unthinkable occurred, a car stolen with a 6-year-old boy inside. while a mother was using the atm here at hellerman and passmore, a thief seized the moment, jumped in her car and took off. fortunately a good samaritan saw the carjacking. he followed the suspect without hesitation because a child was inside. when the carjacker let the little boy out, the good samaritan reunited the child with his mother. >> she was still in shock. she couldn't even talk. so she almost fainted. so that was nice. >> reporter: our camera was rolling during that tender moment. investigators say the suspect, who snatched the car, abandoned it a short distance away. and this morning the good samaritan says crimes such as carjackings haven't occurred here in mayfair in the past. he is urging everyone to be vigilant. police are telling us they're reviewing surveillance videotape. as the light of day approaches, they hope to be back in the neighborhood looking for more surveillance cameras. mo

sky force 10 is overhead as crews rescue the two people trapped inside. let's get to brandon hudson live at that scene. >> and brandon you spoke with the owner of the home where the plane came down, what did she have to say? >> reporter: that woman lives on the other side of the trees here. investigators won't likely remove this small plane until tomorrow, an officer is making sure no one gets too close. we can tell you the owner of the plane wasn't on board when it crashed in the backyard. nbc 10 learned the pilot and passenger rented this plane and left for an airport in medford. plane crashed on east lindenwold avenue. both men were conscious and breathing at the time they went to the hospital. the woman who lives in the home where the plane crashed says it's common for planes to fly through this area here in south jersey. >> sometimes planes fly a little low. but usually we don't have any issues.

flames shooting high into the night sky forcing neighbors to evacuate and streets to be shut down. niko sanchez is there. >> reporter: firefighters were able to get this under control in less than an hour. crews fighting from the ground and from above battling flames so massive you could see it from really far away. fire officials calling this a stick fire because an apartment complex currently under exposed wood. it goes up quickly and burns hot. gilbert road at one time was closed at guadalupe to about a mile south. some neighbors had to evacuate because of this fire. the construction crews will have to chalk this up as a huge loss but firefighters were happy no one got hurt. and they will be on scene for the next couple of days to keep it under control. in gilbert, nikos santos, 12 news today. >>> apartment fire street and indian school roads. firefighters responded around 4:00 this morning. the woman was able to get out with one of her dogs but still missing another dog and three cats. a second woman was taken to the hospital but it's unclear this morning if her medical issues
