that is in the smithsonian. that candlesticks that were on the table, the marble top table were obtained by brigadier general shargh. they are actually in an exhibit. the silent witness i think, is one of the more interesting pieces in the room. it was a ragdoll owned by an eight-year-old girl. it was left in the parlor. when the fed also came in the parlor they started passing among themselves. you can see it today in the parlor c exhibition, called the silent witness. the vase on the mantle remained in the mclean family. they were later given to the park. you can see them. the cell phone was kept in the mclean family. the original is in the park collection in the mclean parlor. the bookcase in the room, it is now in the smithsonian institution. those are the only known furnishings that where in the parlor. there was no interest in the rest of the house because i had nothing to do with the surrender proceeding. even though, general gibson had his headquarters there for a few days afterwards. i hope that answers

there have been some seeds taken out in other areas that are at the smithsonian institute, greensburg historical museum, and so the gentleman -- the four young men that sat in here have talked to us about around where they sat, so a lot of the things you will see here are the actual advertisements around the different menu items they offered and the prices. these four were franklin mccain, ezell blair, joseph mcneal, and david richmond. they were freshmen at north carolina a&t university, a historically black university here. they came to the store, sat at the lunch counter and asked to order i believe some coffee and a piece of pie. the responses with really mixed. recently the smithsonian portrait gallery had an exhibit on the war of 1812 and borrowed this wonderful portrait of jean-lafitte, who had a basic here in galveston after the war of 1812. came here in about 1850 or so. relations between jean-lafitte and the u.s. government had soured and he and his brother p air were -- pierre were hired on as informants for spain. so, he used galveston as a piece of operations for not only sparring, but also his privateering endeavors as well. it is a really unique piece. a local family was building a mansion between 24th and 25th street on broadway. when they were tearing down the old house and laying the foundation for the new one, they discovered a number of confederate artifacts, and this painting rolled up in a tent. the family took this as a possible jean-lafitte painting, and in the 1970's, the piece was donated to the library. however it was really just speculation that led early folks to believe this was jean-lafitte . but it really caught fire, much like all of the history with lafitte. there is much mythology that is difficult to disentangle
