we have snow on 17. you're going over the hill or you expect somebody coming over to the south end of the bay, watch for snow this afternoon. also mt. hamilton, you have snows there. once you get those clear, you get to see the snow in the higher elevations above 2500 feet for the south end of the bay. livermore getting showers. you head over to san francisco, we saw that shot of san francisco. the dark clouds we just saw, it was showing all of the rain just off the coast there. got some in san rafael as well. as we go through the afternoon, if you head to the sierra, bring the chains. you have plenty of snow there. we're expecting two feet across some of the lower lying areas and by lower lying areas, i mean 3,000 feet, 4,000 feet. that's where you get about a foot of snow or so. once you get to 6,000 feet, you look at two to four feet of snow and then about six feet plus across 8,000 feet. so the winter storm warnings are in place at least through tomorrow. across lake county, 5 to 12 inches of snow. a

of snow atop peaks. there is how things are shaping up on satellite and radar image. there is low pressure moving away now. there is a big cold air mass. and there is a our forecast animation at 7:00 this evening. by 10:00 tonight, maybe 11:00, we'll see rain pushing into parts of sonoma, napa and marin counties. so north way starts to get wet here. and there is some heavy rain. there is a little bit of a break, showers follow the front. some showers could be locally heavy around mid day or into afternoon hours tomorrow. there is rain that will creep out and rain won't last long, but will be wet. totals won'ting as impressive in spots there is from half an inch to quarter inch in the east bay. quarter to half an inch to the south bay. and this is going to translate into snow. there is a winter storm warning in affect from 4:00 tomorrow morning to 4:00 sunday morning. there is 10-18 inches of new snow and four to eight inches of snow near 4,000 foot mark. and there is going to be a wintery weekend into th

dusting of snow on there.n on sunday things are going to cool down and get chilly yet again and kind of clear out. so let's take a look at the radar. just looking at the rain right now as it continues to move on shore. originally the forecast called for the rain to come in tomorrow morning but as you can see this rainfall is really cooking through already. a big trough there. and behind all of that, this is tonight into tomorrow, we'll see some colder air coming in. but you can see this forecast model, the forecast model calls for the rain to go throughout the entire day tomorrow. let's take a broader look at things. we have the satellite here, we have the radar so we can see the rain, and then the snow falling at the higher elevations. another winter storm warning in effect for the sierra nevada, expecting up to eight inches of snow with this system. locally expect about 1/3 to a half inch of rain in some spots. northern areas will see the most amount of rain. you can see just this huge storm in context here.

now we see the snow falling in the sierra nevada. tons of snow falling.e're going to see some of that snow adding up to about a foot at higher elevations. for tomorrow, though, using the sky forecast, more blue sky in the forecast. not a lot of rain over the area. just sunshine. but not warm sunshine. forecast highs tomorrow still running below average. looking at the 8:00 a.m. forecast, starting at freezing in santa rosa at 32. 33 in napa. 37 in concord to start things out. 40 in santa cruz. 41 in redwood city. not looking at a warm start to the day at all. forecast highs making it into the 50s. 54 in pleasanton. 55 in fremont. 57 in evergreen. just outside of evergreen look toward mt. hamilton and see maybe snow on some of the local peaks. 53 in richmond. 49 in maraga. 55 in seb past poll. nice to see blue skies but it will be breezy and cool. if you are heading out tomorrow, you want to make sure thur bundled up. lookin to the seven-day forecast, a lot happening. cool sunshine for tomorrow. it's going to be nice weather monday and tuesday. weather cold

we're told half a foot or more of snow so the snow mobilers can think of going up there to snow mobileas rain, that's the green area there on the coast. then as the air ascends into the cascades, it turns to snow. more than a foot of snow will fall in this system that comes ashore out there. the winds today were the result of this storm. this is the second one of the week to come through the area. then the next one cycles in and the isobars begin to pack and the winds respond by picking up in the plains and blow from the south. at first they'll not have any moisture. this air is dry by the dew points. and dry air heats up easily. low dew point air, lots of sun, then the jet stream coming around to the south sunday and monday and you have yourself a warm-up. goodbye to the cold air, hello warm yup. 50-degree highs on sunday. low 50s on monday. then this cold air crashes in again. turns rain to snow showers tuesday. that begins to lift out of here then another system could run along the south flank of this mass and move from colorado or wyoming into central illinois next week. that could
