. >> and i'm frank somerville. tonight firefighters are still at the scene of that major fire in san francisco's western edition. fanned by strong winds the five alarm fire tore through three buildings this afternoon destroying homes and possessions. it took more than three hours for 150 firefighters to finally control the flames. four people including two firefighters were injured but remarkably no one seriously. the fire broke out just before noon at the corner of pierce street and golden gate avenue. that's where eric rasmussen is tonight. >> reporter: more than one person who lives here told us those flames moved quickly. firefighters are still here. they've been on the look out for hot spots. if you take a look, there's still a hose draped from the building there. both of these buildings have been declare uninhabilitatable and many people don't know if they'll be able to call this home again. >> reporter: tru crabbed suri, that's all she had time to get. >> someone knocked the door at our place and yelled fire

i'm frank somerville. >> i'm julie haener. at this hour, several dozen protesters are determined to retake justin herman plaza they were evicted from this morning. the development from amber lee, she's been watching the standoff for several hours tonight. >> reporter: we want to show you what justin herman plaza looks like right now. some speaking on the open microphone. we counted two tents that have gone up so far. police backed off, after setting up a perimeter here earlier. at around 8:45, things came to a head when there was a clash between protesters and officers. officers scuffled with several protesters. tackling some to the ground. tensions would raise from time to time during the past few hours. shortly after 6:00 tonight, protesters march from the federal reserve building to justin herman plaza. they tried to reoccupy the space police removed them from this morning. officers in riot gear moved in, surrounding the dozens of protesters who moved inside the perimeter. >> justin herman plaza is closed for the public. >>
