we're talking about a cooldown, some more clouds and some of us may even measure some rain. let's talk about that. as we get started in san jose it's a mostly clear start. but then as we look at our high temperatures you're going to feel that cooldown by this afternoon. look at our high temperature as we reach up to 78 degrees in downtown san jose and some low 80s for the south county as well as east san jose. compare that to the 90s we've had recently. as the seven-day forecast at the bottom of the screen for your microclimate shows those changes we'll have for at least the next couple of days. as we look at the east bay we're reaching into the upper 80s for spots like pittsburg. oakland will stay in the 60s today. we're also looking at some high temperatures that will still be warm for some of our inland areas. at the coast it's staying cool. low 60s for much of the peninsula but then you head over to palo alto. we're going to see temperatures in the upper 70s as we check out san francisco today, expect it to reach into the upper 50s in the marina district. it will be cool

we've seen some damage. let's take a live look to the north where the storm is going and start in portsmouth, virginia, where we are seeing clouds over the beach right now which is not bad considering what they've seen as well. so a beach day could be in the outing for some there if those clouds can break just a bit. there was significant damage and flooding with the storm, though, and especially in oak island, north carolina, where we saw water pouring into that community. really a struggle overnight there and actually some house fires sparked as a result of the flooding in oak island. more damage in southport, north carolina, as well. there it was the wind doing a lot of the damage. flooding has been an issue with the storm throughout. remember, all of this going on during a pandemic which is really changing the way first responders and shelters are reacting to the storm. >> you're already feeling strained and stressed from the pandemic. you just hope it's not the stick that breaks the camel's back. >> rep

as we go over to the east bay we're also looking at some milder weather from the tri-valley, some lowg up to spots like martinez. 72 degrees today while oakland will stay in the 60s. we're in the low 60s in half moon bay and then for palo alto we're reaching into the low 70s. it's going to be also cool and windy in san francisco with that fog remaining overhead. at times some drizzle coming down so the embarcadero reaches 62 degrees. and we're in the upper 80s still for the far north bay, for clear lake. but then for santa rosa it will be nice with highs in the mid-70s. looking at our hour by hour forecast and our cloud cover here, there's going to be so much of the fog and drizzle that it may actually measure up in the rainfall bucket especially for san mateo county. along the coastline we could see up to a tenth of an inch of rain near half moon bay and the inland areas all of the clouds and fog will start to cause some drizzle later this evening even for the east bay. so we're watching out for that much cooler weather along with the cloud cover that will linger for today from napa
