we have a lot of black ice concentrated in napa and sonoma.napa, the fowler creek bridge is seeing some ice and then as well highway 116, we had a spinout right near west watma road. a motorcycle hit a patch of ice. here on 24, traffic is slow going. that's good. you will notice the chp is warning drivers about black ice. the chp website says the slippery conditions are on 24 eastbound near the fish ranch road offramp in orinda and then in the westbound direction in la fayette. black ice is a thin coating of glazed ice on the roadway. while it's not exactly black. it's transparent, the black asphalt shows through. that's why they call it black ice. these conditions are expected with all of the freezing temperatures we've had. the chp wants to remind drivers to take it easy on the roadway. don't slam on the brakes. if you hit a patch of ice, ease off the gas and keep those hands firmly on the wheel. it's also difficult to see black ice. so make sure you are careful. tara moriarty, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you. >>> the cold weather has been
