in fact a winter storm watch already posted for the south coast, cape and islands. starts tomorrow morning and goes through sunday morning. the biggest impacts from the storm that is going to blanket the mid-atlantic with a foot to two feet of snow. but the track still uncertain, because it still has to strengthen and evolve, so it may still shift to the north. we will continue to analyze data throughout the day today, and one thing we know along with the snow, we are going to be dealing with strong winds and coastal flooding beach erosion during the times of high tide, 11 p.m. saturday night and 11 a.m. in the morning on sunday. so here is our storm right now bringing snow and ice through parts of the tennessee valley and mississippi valley. heavy rain in atlanta, down to the pan handle. severe weather too. bringing some snow into charlotte now. heading northward into virginia heading northward into virginia. and getting close to the capital. now we are still hundreds of miles away from this storm. but the track is going to be very important over the next 12 hours,

we have a little bit of a winter storm watch on the south coast. in new york city, a blizzard warning all the way down to washington dc. these advisories are all the way down into the deep south. the storm is already starting to ramp up. there is two feet of snow in d.c.. new york city could see close to this is the area of low snowfall. it' s going to move out. the wind is going to be an issue. the wind is going to be strongest on the south shore of the cape. that is the peak wind. it could be guessing over 40 miles per hour. we are concerned about coastal flooding. the high tide will be more vulnerable. there will likely be some beach erosion. the windchill we are contending with this morning' s down near zero. you' re going to want to bundle up. it' s a quiet weather day. we have mostly sunny skies and this is holding our storm to the south. blizzard conditions from new york back to d.c.. we' re going to watch that storm held northward. this is a closer look at the timeline. saturday morning, things are generally ok. by lunchtime, we are going to

the the heaviest will be south coast and the south shore of massachusetts and it blows on out of here. we're back into the sunshine by sunday afternoon. so from tomorrow morn, we'll be watching the snow creep in through sunday morn, prime time for the storm. but particularly in the afternoon for boston. i'm expecting a coating to two inches that. shutout being pitched to the north and west. that could come further to the south. seas can meander north and south. my thinking is stay firm to what we're looking at last night. with 3 to 6 inches on the south shore, you may say that's gone up. i had 3 to 5 inches. 3 to 6 is a slight adjustment. that has to account for some of that ocean-effect snow along the coastline, 7 to 12 inches from plymouth to providence over through places like maybe manchester, connecticut, and then southeast into cape cod and the islands. 7 inches to a foot of snow, that's where the the heaviest is going to be. it's also where the strongest winds would be. expecting gusts over 40, 50, even potentially 60mph. that's why the national weather service has a high wind

south. there will be a likelihood of some severe weather with this storm system down across the gulf coast states. this will form into the major nor'easter that will hammer the mid atlantic. in fact, there is a blizzard watch that's close by as long island. then you get south down the 95 stretch into baltimore, d.c., that's a blizzard watch for those folks there, blue, winter storm watch posted from the national weather service. very sharp cut-off with this highest impact in philly. high impact in new york city out through long island. you get north of there, the gradient of precipitation will fall off fast. so that's why we have a moderate risk along the connecticut coastline, rhode island coastline of dealing with some heavy snow, perhaps six inches or more that. risk really tapers off the further north you go. in terms of the timing of the snow that we do get, again, it's dry on saturday morning. saturday afternoon, 1:00, 2:00 p.m., may begin to see some snow across the south coast of new england. that will slow the afternoon and evening. for the city of boston, best chance of know is after 4:
