the best chance down along the south coast and the cape. we're clearing it out behind that front tonight. we'll drop back down into in 20's to around the freezing mark tonight. tomorrow for ground hog day it is a quiet one with high pressure in control. before that system moves in from the south and west coming up on wednesday. so wednesday looks to be the wettest day this week. i think as we head into the morning commute, most of the showers are actually going to be still kind of back to our west. it may take until mid to late morning before the rain really gets in here. it will be rain, some embedded downpours. can't rule out a rumble of thunder in the afternoon. impacts here for the evening commute. then this system is getting out of here wednesday night. probably an inch or more of rain out of this system. then it's cooling down for the end of the week. there will be an area of low pressure developing along that front. right now it looks like it's too far off shore to have any impact on our area. we'll watch the track on that. behind it

and then this evening, after about 8, 9:00 pockets of snow develop along the south coast and cape. we may get into a scattered snow shower tonight. and pockets of light snow is pretty much gone by tomorrow morning. disturbance that comes in. bulk of the moisture stays out to sea and it's about the cold. wind whips up and may gust 40 to50 miles per hour at the coast. up to 40 miles per hour inland and then high pressure builds in means plenty of sunshine for sunday but that's when the heart of the cold air comes overhead. so snowfall tonight until early tomorrow morning. and it's a scattered coating here with maybe a snow shower that comes through. and the greater risk of picking up one to three inches and it will be a fluffy consistency because it's so cold from plymouth back down to the cape and islands. there may be a couple isolated spots that end up with closer to 4 inches of fluff because it's so cold we can pile up the snow quicker. that's tonight into early tomorrow morning. today, the clouds increase and temperatures in the 20s. tonight, similar to this morning we drop into

south. by midnight some snow spreading in to the area. i think it will quickly change over to rain near the coast and south of boston but it may linger a little bit longer before turning to ice south ward of 495. tuesday night into wednesday morning, a little coating of snow to change over to rain here right along the coastline. this is just the first system coming on in. this one is the weaker of the two. the second storm system coming to come in wednesday night into thursday morning. and that one is loaded with moisture. because it's tracking to our west, we're going to see rain out of this one. that rain gets very heavy here as we head toward wednesday night and the first half of thursday. so thursday morning's commute is going to feature some downpours likely some poor drainage flooding, ponding of the water on the roads. it looks very wet on thursday. one, maybe two inches of rain. in addition to that we'll have strong southerly winds. that will push the temperatures up into the 50's on thursday but we could gust over 50 miles per hour. wild weather coming in here for the middle of the week. and then it does get quieter and colder next w

the clouds are thicker near the south coast. that's where the front that represents the leading edge of the somewhat chillier air is moving through and a little moisture is pooling. you can see little yellows and that rain may be reaching the ground. it is possible that there will be a brief period of rain tonight. but the bulk will move rapidly offshore. a bigger storm is occurring and that's across the plain states. actually there are blizzard warnings beginning at 3:00 a.m. that is not until the wee hours of the morning. also being impacted by the storm, a portion of south dakota and a portion of minnesota and a portion of nebraska. we eventually will feel that storm, but we will be on the warm side as it tracks to the west of us and drives warm air right back up here wednesday afternoon and wednesday evening and also bringing some downpours and locally heavy rain at that time. and we are in the 40s. the wet weather will be mostly moving in during wednesday night. you can see the time line and now you can see the rain approac

some of the heaviest amounts is along south coast and south of boston. the wind will be gusty as well today. the hour by hour forecast, the wind starts to ramp up by midday and the afternoon. gust over to the cape and gloucester and the wind stays strong and diminishes tomorrow and turns lighter heading into thursday. the front pushes offshore but doesn't push very far offshore. so here's the concern on friday morning. it's a -- if the front lingers off the coastline another wave moisture up so on friday, we may get clipped with a little rain or snow early on friday morning. the greatest risk is the cape and islands because you are closest to the front. and then clearing comes in afterthat and we turn cooler heading into the end of the week. today's highs gradual process but look at this. we come into the as-- 50s again today and will fall shy of records that's going to be close as the warmth comes in. and tonight, overnight lows still right around 50 degrees and tomorrow, that is kind of our starting platform so highs come up into the low to mid-50s aga

down along the south coast and cape upper 40's, lower 50's. you notion on the cape southwest wind coming off of buzzard areas bay actually working against you you. it's a little bit cooler in hyannis and provincetown upper 40's and also here comes a cool front generating a few isolated showers down through the south coast and cape and islands and this extends back toward new york city. but again it's a cool front, not a cold front. there is no bit early cold air behind this weather; so what it will do is get temperatures this time of year for tomorrow but even with that said the numbers are still technically going to come up above normal. green bay for example right now 36. so what a turn around cared to last year. the first four days of last year down here at the bottom the blue indicating bit early cold air and to add insult to injury on february 2 of last year we had storm number two of the four storm blitz with 16 inches of snow but that's not happening this year. again with all sort of the mild air. so for tonight cooling off, clearing. i
