rescue attempt that started in waters off southern california resumes at sunup off the central coast where a gray whale is tangled if a fishing net. terry mcsweeney is live along the coast with more. >> reporter: just got off the phone with the california whale entanglement team. crews heading out of moss landing across the monterey bay from where i'm standing now leaving in 20 minutes going out to try to find this whale, a 40 ton california whale entangled in very thick fishing line. if they cannot get that line off this whale, it could be the end of the whale. take a look at the first sighting we have, video from last tuesday in southern california off laguna beach when the whale who has been named june, was discovered, dragging 50 to 100 feet worth of crab pot line, very thick line impacting the whale's ability to eat. yesterday morning the whale is spotted coming into monterey county it has three buoys attached to it that's what the crews did last week, making her easier to find. the whale is very did to find at sea. as the crews get closer to the whale it stars flipping that tai

they say the scams are happening throughout the bay area and in southern california. if you know anything about it or recognize that man, you are urged to call the alameda county sheriff's office. passing the blame, the owners and operators of the costco, the container ship that slammed into the bay bridge in 2007, are now suing the pharmacists they say dispensed drugs to the ship's pilot right before that crash. the lawsuit claims that prescription pills dispensed to pilot john koda were given recklessly and negligently at a drugsto drugstore. they say the drugs in turn clouded his judgment. you may recall the marine pilot pled guilty in 2009 to federal charges of water pollution and ten months in jail. the ship's owners and operators paid out nearly $20 million in damages and fines and now are looking to recoup some of that money. biologists say the 50,000 gallon spill is to blame for the deaths of more than 2,000 birds. >>> months of hard work destroyed as thousands of plants were uprooted at a community garden in san francisco's bayview neighborhood. here are some

and this is going to head into southern california. thursday we'll see this system that is bringing us mainly morning showers. you'll notice there are clouds around. and there is some showers beginning to develop during evening commute. from the south do you remember that system that is heading into southern california so moisture coming in from south. showers continue. really until early thursday morning. that system starts to wind down and another one begins to arrive into thursday. 7:00 or 8:00 hour. there are showers that will wind down by the time we hit early afternoon hours, two days of wet weather and most of the wednesday actually going to be dry until evening hours. so here is how this ends up. not something to write home about but we'll take moisture at this point. 5/100ths to a waurter inch through thursday evening. looking at morning temperatures another mild start with cloud cover. we're going see numbers into mid to upper 50s. and there is is 70 degrees in san jose. there is 63 degrees in half moon bay. monterey bay, 64

southern california getting a lot more of that.f you're traveling that way tonight, expect heavier rainfall and here come it is cool front tomorrow. i think we'll drop temperatures another 3 to 5 degree frs the 70s we had yesterday. for thursday, we'll find a few showers and throughout friday, those number wills start going back up with some 70s. throughout tomorrow morning, computer models not picking up on a lot. by 9:00 a.m., a few spotty showers we're picking up on. that will likely stay through 11:00 a.m. and by the afternoon hours, we'll get some sunshine with the system moving to the south. we'll start with 55 in los gatos, 55 in concord. 57 in fairfield. may be able to leave those windows cracked just a bit. topping out at 63 in dublin. 64 in concord and 65 in walnut creek. that air will be a lot drier tomorrow with those winds shifts out of the north. 60 in san francisco. so the comfort level will increase thursday. by saturday, temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s and we'll continue that trend into sunday as well. so
