several hundred miles to our north in southern oregon two very large wildfires are burning. and in just one thin layer of the atmosphere, we have a north-to-south wind. that smoke is blowing from those fires in southern oregon all the way down the coastline into the bay area. so if you have the sunshine this afternoon, it wasn't that crystal clear blue sky chances are you had kind of a milky white sky. most of you had this which is just cloudy. that's what we have looking back toward emeryville, piedmont and oakland. look at you in concord, 68 degrees right now, 15 degrees below average. livermore at 74. san jose 73. downtown san francisco 62. san jose you have been below normal for the past several days by three to five degrees. 79 a popular temperature since friday. that's also today's high 79 degrees. as for what's going on, over the weekend you were chilly, cloudy, because of an area of low pressure down to the south and west. it's still there but not the main weather focus for us now. what is, is a large area of low pressure now getting closer to us from the northwest.

smoke from all the wildfires burning hundreds of miles away in southern oregon. the warning was issued today, saying that air quality is on track to reach unhealthy levels. so the winds are pushing that bad quality air in odirection? >> yeah. just a small sliver of that. it is keeping the bulk of the smoke you smelled yesterday off to the north. you can see on the map, the douglas and whiskey fire burning over 13,000 acres. so yesterday we have it traveling 3 to 500 miles off to the south. today, a lot of that smoke is contained into the extreme northern california portion. only a slight hint of that happening across the north bay counties today. that's because the winds have shifted more onshore, 10 to 20 miles per hour. but even with that said, air quality levels are at moderate range from the north bay all the way down to the south bay. we'll take a live look p outside. that's the marine layer and the fog. we'll have more on the fog factor forecast in a few minutes. >>> okay. we'll see you shortly. deja vu. another bart strike is looming. negotiations have bee
