that severe thunderstorm warning for the southern pennsylvania counties has now expired, but the storms are still there. they're not quite as severe, but you can still get strong hail and gusty winds. it's moving up near york, just scooting along the pennsylvania-maryland line. a new area of isolated storms has cropped up just to the south and southwest of westminster at this stage of the game. also out near hagerstown. just north of ocean city, along the delaware beaches and down along the potomac river on the virginia side they're getting isolated storms, too. kind of an active evening this evening. but except for that line just north of us in southern pennsylvania, where york is getting some thunderstorms now, it's kind of isolated, at least in maryland. let's look at what's going on temperature-wise. it's a warm, humid day today. 81 degrees at stephensville. annapolis checks in with 80 right now. at b.w.i.-marshall, it's 85. 86 downtown. college park, 88. gaithersburg, 82. 78 hagerstown. in hagerstown, there is some thundershower activity and heavier clouds there. the satellite imag

from pennsylvania into western maryland, parts of west central maryland into southern pennsylvania.ally cool for this time of year. a little warmer right along the shore of the bay. that kept annapolis east and cambridge much milder. at ocean city, it looks a little more like july at 70. back into the mountains, almost chilly this morning especially by july standards. and with mainly clear skies across the region again tonight and dry air, folks, this is unusually dry. the dew point. the lower the dew point, the drier the area. this is what we typically see in the fall or winter. last hour the dew points were down around 39. i can't really remember seeing dew points in the 30's in july in central maryland before. so an unusually dry air mass. not very july-like. temperatures right now are in the 80's. but with that dry air and clear skies and light winds, these temperatures will fall quickly through the evening. the futurecast only shows a few scattered high clouds coming through. 57 the record low for tomorrow morning. we may be close to that with that area of high pressure dominat

you will notice a bunch of thunderstorms moving through southern pennsylvania, reaching down into the northern counties of maryland. the first batch missed the city, but we did have some thundershower activity overhead for a while. some of that was severe weather. it has kind of settled down now, but we have one little shower left. you can see it on that image, but let's go into little closer. there is that one local radar echo that picked on pete. there is no lightning or thunder, and is dissipating as it approaches the bay. here it produced just over a quarter inch of rain. most of the grain went around the city limits. let's look at some of the temperatures around the area and see what happened. 87 was a high at the airport. a typical 88 for this time of year. morning lows were in the 60's to around 70. hot springs, 64, and 70 at winchester. the computer is drawing a blank for everybody else. here is the satellite picture. i have drawn some weather features in. the more significant storms are out ahead of this brought out over the atlantic. a partial front over parts of new england

last evening, overnight to the northwest in carroll and parts of baltimore county up towards southern pennsylvania but as far as we're concerned today just high clouds mixed in. we're generally watching another band of rain pushing through the mountains of southwestern virginia but the overall environment is just primed with all of this moisture that popped showers and storms at any point in time. energy sitting back across the deep south with a wave of low pressure that may enhance our rainfall as we head through tomorrow. the warm stormy weather to the southwest, just really isolated storms expected nearby here this afternoon. most of that will be in the mountains. we'll show you the computer models in the next half-hour. right now we're expecting an afternoon temperature, our two-degree guarantee of 89. just an isolated shower but the chance of rain could go up after midnight in towards daybreak. lows down in the muggy low to mid-70s. tomorrow, better chance of showers and storms, two-degree guarantee of 89. 82 tomorrow. 83 saturday with scattered thunderstorms. and warming to 85 by sunday. we'

up into southern pennsylvania, we have seen some strong storm's track into lancaster county. that is pretty much where the most active weather is right now. a storm could pop up during the evening hours. things could be a little different 24 hours from now going into friday evening. just one for the tree pollen count. that is just a ninth count total, in the moderate range. 96 degrees in downtown baltimore. it feels like july. 104 is the record high back in 1988. hot stuff all around the state. much cooler up in the mountains. 77 degrees. that risk of a storm, a very minimal chance. partly cloudy skies. you can see the clouds associated with that storm tracking eased out of northern delaware. here comes a cool front will cross through the region. as that high pressure builds, it will try to clear things out. moisture coming up from the south will trigger tomorrows storms. that cloud cover holds the temperature backed from the 90's today to the 80's tomorrow. showers and thunderstorms chances moved up to about 50% or 60%. southeast winds on the chesapeake bay. western maryland

however, the deal is, it's going to feel worse than that when you factor in the humidity. 82 in southern pennsylvania. 76 on the mountains of western maryland. north-northeasterly flow at five to 10 knots. waves a foot. and water temperatures are hovering in the upper 70's. take a look at this. this has been something different. .43-inches of rainfall. that's what we accumulated yesterday. much needed rain, especially for this month. we're more than two inches below what is normal for july. we're still above normal, almost two inches above where we should be. 70 is where we began things at. we hit a high as well of 84. 97 is the record. in contrast, the record low of 55 was set back in 1985. nowhere near that range tonight. we'll be anywhere from 62 to 66. partly cloudy skies. typical july overnight forecast with a slight chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms in the mix. here's what we're looking at this morning. on the surface this front draped over the mid-atlantic. slow and moving out of here. that means humid conditions. low pressure associated with that coastal storm to our north. an upp

lower eastern shore and across the border on in through southern pennsylvania.e had a fair shot of rain yesterday. we had some this morning pass through the lower eastern shore as well. we'll continue to watch where it appears to be a very slow moving boundary back towards our west. we're in in environment, though we're shrouded a lot of clouds and clearing on the north side, we'll get sun to burn through some of the cloud deck. some of you had that this morning. that will fire up the atmosphere. it's prime to develop more showers and storms this afternoon. it will do so especially as we head on in through, say 2:00, 3:00, we'll start to watch this pop on the local radar. you can see it extended to the south. and the eastern seaboard in its entirety. haven't -- you can see the separation between the clouds in the east and clearing to the west? we're not going to get into that clearing at least for the foreseeable future. our forecast model indicates another line of showers and storms firing up. this one model has us at 3:30, but generally this afternoon we'll wa

the heat but still have cloud cover there, compared to the 60s lingering behind in through southern pennsylvania. the cloud cover we had overnight still lingering as a high thin cloud deck across salisbury and just clipping the maryland and delaware beaches. they will see improvement today as high pressure tries to build in but we're in this environment where clouds will build back up as we head into the afternoon. look at the cluster of showers pushing into the carolinas. very impressive complex here. bad news for anybody vacationing from the carolina outer banks all the way to the deep south. very stormy pattern does continue and while the showers do stay to our south it will just signify the fact that once these things do hit the coast and once re-emerge and re-develop, may throw more cloudiness back our way. we're on the edge of the cool weather. yesterday's high of 90 degrees, the first time we hit 90 all summer long. it will be cooler today but we're just on the edge of that cool weather. it looks like we'll slip back to 85, a little below normal under sunshine that will turn partly cloudy

parts of harford county and dotting in through southern pennsylvania. gets much more pronounced. i-81, often acts as this dividing line. that's when you get this deep into the mountains. the rain is spreading eastbound but while we got this solid rain here and it's just a morning event we'll fill all this in as we head through today. the cloud cover prevents us from getting too warm which may prevent us from getting too severe. but where there is sun breaking out portions of the delmarva, southeast virginia, they could be approaching 90 and could have tornadoes here. we're in the environment where we'll have the slight risk of severe weather. i think for us the possibility of damaging winds, localized flooding with the heavy rain producers, even hail and isolated tornado especially when we have the southeast flow off the bay, that may help to spin off storms as they get close to the city. it's a small chance. overall for today 82. the afternoon expected temperature but the storms that may turn severe could happen at any point in time. we'll flair up showers around midday, once yo
